People and Culture Director
Whalerock is looking for a People and Culture Director to help us retain, nurture, and grow our talented team. You will play a key role in developing progressive practices and policies while helping to shape who we are and what we stand for as a company.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide coaching and counsel to executive team on employee relations and management
• Provide counsel to staff employees regarding career path, advancement, interacting with peers, and other workplace-related topics
• Facilitate annual performance management and merit processes, working with management to document goals, capture year-end feedback, and make corresponding compensation recommendations
• Manage full life-cycle recruitment (job descriptions, researching, screening, interviewing, closing) with a focus on increasing diversity and inclusion within the organization
• Oversee benefits process: partner with insurance broker to negotiate and determine yearly benefit offerings to employees; coordinate and administer 401K savings plan; and ensure smooth open enrollment and employee communications
• Provide guidance and support to both union and non-union crew and cast on productions. Partner with production executives to meet compliance rules and guidelines
• Own the integrity of the HRIS database ensuring accuracy of all data including employee updates/changes (promotions, salary changes, separations, etc.)
• Handle all HR admin tasks including conducting employment verifications, responding to unemployment claims and managing all leave administration including corresponding with employees (ensuring they understand their benefits and entitlements), state agencies, and company disability insurance providers
• Manage employee life cycle from new hire onboarding thru separation offboarding processes
• Promote employee engagement in partnership with operations manager and executive team
• Create and maintain HR policies to support the business and legal requirements
• Administer employee training and development programs and maintain compliance requirements
• Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable HR federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records and representing the organization at hearings

You have…
• 10 years related experience in Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, and/or People Operations
• A Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
• Experience in a digital and/or entertainment environment
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and working knowledge of HRIS systems (ADP)
• Knowledge of applicable local, state, and Federal employment laws, including wage and hour, EEO, FMLA, ADEA, ADA, OSHA, among others
• Complete discretion and confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information
• A positive outlook and a “can do” attitude
