Director Social Content Development
Whalerock Industries is currently looking for a talented content creator with strong social media and national brand-management experience who is passionate about pop culture. In this role, you will oversee a small team creating, optimizing, and amplifying digital content for real-time distribution across robust social channels, used to engage and grow an audience for a major high-profile country music and entertainment media brand. Already huge, this brand is ready to continue to modernize, embrace your fresh ideas, and make lots of noise to reach an even broader audience and break through an incredibly-crowded landscape.
The ideal candidate …
Will…
• Have deep knowledge of the paid media landscape and how it can help drive engagement and awareness for a brand. Provide regular analytic reporting for social media performance, paid media campaigns and community engagement. Ability to swiftly pivot strategies as-need to optimize performance of content, particularly around paid media efforts
• Conceptualize and produce social media content including videos, memes, GIFs, and live posts as directed by client
• Define and manage how to drive growth in brand audience and engagement through dynamic, always-on content that reflects a macro corporate brand/tone/voice, as well as more nuanced and diverse micro-brands
• Work under Head of Editorial & Programming and Chief Brand Officer to align and execute on business goals
• Manage all aspects of social media content production across all required social media channels, from ideation, development, and client-pitching to production, deployment, analysis and real-time optimization
• Boast significant hands-on experience strategizing, building, deploying, maintaining, and evaluating paid social flights across all major platforms, with budgets ranging from micro-targeting four-figures to broader awareness priority tentpoles stretching to six-figures, and all the latest high-impact and sustaining products
• Manage and mentor a small internal team to produce content that is both highly engaging, constantly evolving and on-brand, including commissioning content from established and emerging creators and influencers
• Work closely with the brand client, across geographic distance and time zones, to navigate talent and other approvals, priorities, and calendars
• Serve as community liaison, identifying creators/influencers and potential partners, in addition to developing relationships, including with partner reps at all the major platforms for new functionality and paid products

• Completely plugged in to the country music and pop culture/entertainment scenes – with an up-to-the-minute knowledge of the latest news, stars, trends, obsessions, and a natural ability to speak to broad and niche fans
• A creative thinker, balanced with the ability to work with speed and efficiency
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, readily adapting to continually changing priorities, nuanced client feedback, and aggressive project time frames -
• Plugged into the crowded television landscape and is still a consumer of linear television, in addition to a robust diet of digital long-form and short-form content across all active platforms
Has…
• A minimum of five years’ experience in digital media and two years managing social media channels
• A Bachelor’s degree
• A finely-tuned sense of what engages this audience
• A strong knowledge of social media marketing
• Excellent interpersonal skills and can work collaboratively with an internal team as well as client/brand facing
• Experience in video production (a plus)
