Director, Digital (Consulting)
Job Purpose: Responsible for managing a team (which may include: Managers and Associate Managers) to develop, sell-in, manage and execute scopes of work for clients. This involves directing the team to establish strategic partners and new business initiatives in digital sports and entertainment, develop and manage current business relationships, sponsorships, and partnerships in order to ensure client satisfaction. The Digital Consulting Director will serve as the strategic and management lead for a set of Digital Consulting clients. Additionally, this position will be a resource for internal client teams and will actively participate in new business development efforts.
Specific Digital Duties:
• Brainstorms and creates new ideas in digital content and technology that enhance the brand reach and revenue goals of our clients.
• Develops and cultivates relationships with clients, sports property and media partners as well as agency teams and third party vendors.
• Creates, develops and vets strategic options for sports clients in key digital segments such as social media, mobile phone and tablet platforms, connected consoles, web and emerging digital platforms and services.
• Manages and grows client relationships with sports properties and digital distribution outlets on behalf of Wasserman.
• Research and be able to explain key industry trends and new technologies to colleagues, clients and partners. Be the voice of expertise in key digital segments for our clients.
• Find and develop relationships at new and emerging technology companies that may be beneficial to our sports clients. Understand their businesses and make the case for how they may benefit a client, partner and Wasserman.
• Oversee and manage activation planning, strategy and execution across client account and inter-agency teams.
General Duties:
• Oversees and facilitates deal structures and negotiation strategy of accounts;
• Leads team of employees, guides them on deliverables, and ensures best practices with project management.
• Supervises staff, provides feedback, and ensures employee professional development.
• Maintains oversight of all client-related budgets for assigned client accounts.
• Facilitates negotiations between the partner and client; and once a partnership is established, manages the relationship to ensure the client is fully leveraging all benefits and assets.
• Intercedes when issues arise between partners and programs; works diligently to create solutions for clients.
• Understands the landscape for each client’s business/sector as well as the industry contexts for their investments. Builds cutting edge strategic plans for clients to meet/exceed objectives.
• Uses forward thinking initiative to identify the next best strategic opportunities and continue to deliver top results to the client.
• Part of new client pitches and plays a role in responding to RFPs.
• Thinks daily about business development and new revenue opportunities with existing clients and potential clients.
Skills/Qualifications:
• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
• 6+ years relevant experience with minimum 4 years of direct experience in some part of the digital marketing landscape (preferably in the sports or entertainment field).
• Must have a solid working knowledge of the major social, video, mobile and web platforms in the market today.
• Possess exceptional communication skills, both orally and in writing.
• Superior interpersonal skills and be able to create a rapport with people of all demographics.
• Proven Account Management skills required in order to create, maintain and enhance customer relationships.
• Ability to think creatively when planning the strategy, taking into account program needs and budget parameters.
• Effective contract negotiation skills and familiarity with contractual language.
