YBA Security & Operations Assistant (Part-Time)
Summary:
As the signature program of Washington Nationals Philanthropies (WNP), a full-time team dedicated to program implementation and facilities works on site at the Academy. Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Security and Operations, the Assistant, Security and Operations works to ensure overall facility upkeep and aid in assisted security presence. The Assistant will be primarily responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and repairs of the Academy. The Assistant will aid the Assistant Manager, Security and Operations in managing Academy’s complex schedule, including formulating and distributing schedule as well as balancing multiple requirements, considerations and strategies. The Assistant also will perform protective and enforcement functions when coping with undesired behavior, disturbance, crime, threats of life and property. In all situations, the Officers perform their duties in a courteous, professional and restrained manner, through legal methods approved and in compliance with provisions of the District of Columbia Code, Sections 4-114 and 4-115 and company policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations Support:
• Manage daily field and facility maintenance. This includes: Dirt and synthetic turf mound repair, synthetic turf field and mound maintenance for the three baseball/softball fields
• Mange general facility/building repairs and maintenance (HVAC, electric and plumbing)
• Establish facility maintenance routines and enforce policies, procedures, and practices
• Maintain a robust facility maintenance calendar
• Assist with internal and external events at the Academy, including occasional weekends
• Monitor the safety and accessibility of the Academy. Ensure compliance with the District of Columbia regulatory standards.
• Aid in the construction of the Academy’s facility budget and provide management/insight of facility budget over the course of the fiscal year
Security:
• Must be attentive and visible at all events, programs and activities at the YBA
• Responsible for maintaining order on the property, utilizing the respect, care to the greatest extent possible, positive customer service in dealing with guests, visitors, employees and unknown individuals
• Conduct the required patrols as outlined by your Post Instructions and Supervisor Informational Updates in a manner that is investigative, complete, competent and dedicated to the standards of the company
• Make sure all gates and outside doors are secure and locked before leaving the campus
• Utilize proper radio usage at all times
• Perform duties in a respectful, professional and dignified manner ensuring compliance with established standards
• Prepare to take immediate and appropriate action in responding to emergencies, situations and events as situations dictate
• Submit well-written and comprehensive reports setting forth facts of complaints, observations, actions taken and investigative findings
Requirements:
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
• Must possess SOMB Special Police Officer license
• Previous manual labor experience
• Prior experience working with hand and power tools
• Game-day experience with turf baseball field maintenance
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions
• Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
• Experience working in a child friendly environment
• Familiarity with synthetic turf field care
• Ability to troubleshoot in certain areas for repairs and maintenance issue
• High school diploma, and two year related experience and/or training
• Excellent organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks, establish priorities, deliver effective results and consistently meet tight deadlines and targets
• An effective communicator orally and written with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude
• Ability to operate under pressure
• Strong ability to create and thrive in a team environment
• Attention to detail including excellent time management and organizational skills
Physical/Environmental Requirements
• Office: Working conditions are normally outside with some in office duties. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
• Special Events: Duties require intern to stand for long periods of time, walk long distances, climb up/down stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit and must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

As the signature program of WNP, a full-time team dedicated to program implementation and facilities works on site and receives support from colleagues with a full enterprise purview, such as marketing, development, finance, and operations.
