Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Administration & VIP Services, the Coordinator of the Mailroom supports the Office Services department through accurately processing, screening and securing incoming mail for distribution and dispatches outgoing mail and delivers documents, packages or letters locally by performing the following duties.
The Nationals are a military-friendly organization actively recruiting veterans and spouses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervise all mail room operations, including operation of mail machine, etc.
• Coordinate all local, non-commercial deliveries.
• Distribution of all mail to the front offices, players, all departments and vendors throughout the complex.
• Responsible for mailing, monitoring and recordkeeping of UPS, FedEx, USPS, and other shipping companies.
• Manage and maintain accurate inventory levels of equipment and supply materials and packaging materials for UPS, FedEx, USPS, and other shipping companies.
• Stamps date and time of receipt on incoming mail (official correspondence).
• Sorts mail according to destination and type such as returned letters, adjustments, bills, orders, and payments.
• Readdresses undeliverable mail bearing incomplete or incorrect address.
• Examines outgoing mail for appearance and seals envelopes by hand or machine.
• Examines and inspects incoming mail to ensure any suspicious packages are handled in the proper manor.
• Familiarity and compliance with all Washington Nationals and MLB Security policies and procedures as it relates to the handling and logging of mail and packages.
• As needed, assist in folding letters or circulars and inserts in envelopes.
• Distributes and collects mail throughout the front office and stadium. Weighs mail to determine that postage is correct.
• Keeps record of registered mail.
• Ensure that the most efficient and cost effective measures are exercised upon shipment of all mail and packages.
• Provide recommendations for the Mailroom budget for Capital Improvements as well as general use materials.
• Perform other various functions and activities as directed by the Manager, Administration & VIP Services.
• Maintain custodial care and control of all incoming and outgoing packages.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A valid driver's license in good standing and operate a company owned vehicle.
• Some experience in security, or knowledge of security protocols is preferred.
• Prior mailroom or shipping/receiving experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to handle confidential mail and packages accurately.
• A basic knowledge of routine clerical methods and office practices and procedures as they relate to the processing of company mail is a must.
• Must have working knowledge of operating a postage meter machine.

• Familiarity with USPS Guide to Mail Center Security.
• Familiarity with the use of personal protective equipment (e.g., toxic material detectors, breathing apparatus, gloves, goggles.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
• Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms. Must have clear vision at 20 inches or less. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, sit or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
