The Job
WarnerMedia seeks a VP, Content Business Operation for the Kids Content - Toon department. Assists EVP & GM with managing all aspects of studio operations and processes to support WM/KYAC studio business goals. Focused on studio production, assists with modeling (including models prepared by finance group), content management and planning, interdepartmental coordination, strategic planning, greenlight planning and preparation, etc. Oversees or assists with significant strategy initiatives for studios, in alignment with WM/KYAC goals. Oversees facilities and administrative functions for animation studios.
The Daily
• WBA and CNS Business Operations:
• Assists EVP & GM in day-to-day and long-term management of the business operations of the animation studios
• Produces, develops, and improves the communications, interactions, and processes to align multiple internal and external groups with KYAC content goals and studio production
• Developing & maintaining scalable processes and workstreams with clear goals, accountability, and streamlined communications across studios and KYAC (as necessary and appropriate)
• Develops processes and acts as business contact for all internal and external studio requests, including assets management, talent requests, promotional content creations, presentations, etc.
• Point of contact and lead for communication and process tools to meet studio and partner needs
• Working with production, estimating and finance groups, assists EVP & GM with reviewing and evaluating budgets, schedules, greenlights, and pro formae
• Assists EVP & GM in overseeing and managing development budgets and studio budgets
• Oversees and consults on certain decisions regarding appropriate use of budget and resources for studio initiatives, including diversity & inclusion, employee support, studio participation with charitable groups, etc.
• Point of contact, oversight and coordination, both internally and externally, for tracking and managing content rights
• Oversees important transitional elements for studios in new KYAC structure, including assisting with local development initiatives, dubbing, cross-studio coordination (including defining best practices and finding efficiencies), etc.
• Handles, assists EVP & GM, or coordinates with Business Affairs on key negotiations
• Assists EVP & GM in tracking volume of studio output, utilization of resources, and utilization of human resources, to assure studios are ''right sized'' to handle volume, while also remaining efficient and scalable
• Assist in establishing studio and production policies, utilizing best and appropriate practices for all studios, including, e.g., credits, casting, employment of minors, compensation, immigration, etc.; coordinating with appropriate studio departments, as well as WB divisions, as necessary
• Studio Business Strategy
• Developing and administering broad studio strategies, with EVP & GM, as related to: resource planning and utilization, innovation output, alignment with KYAC goals, new content formats, studio focused research and insights
• Developing and assisting with funding models for produced content
• Developing and assisting with distribution models for content across multiple platforms and territories
• Developing strategies and assisting with management of growth across studios, in alignment with KYAC goals
• Interaction and coordinates with executives and leaders from other WM divisions regarding content development, production, distribution and strategies
• Facilities and Administration
• Oversees studio facilities, including facilities teams
• Point of contact with WB studio facilities and property groups
• Oversees administrative functions for studio, as assigned by EVP & GM
• Take significant leadership role in determining plan for 2023 transition under the second century initiative
The Essentials
• 8 years in media preferably with experience in finance, management consulting, or corporate development
• Demonstrated ability to create strategic insight
• Experience preparing and presenting business plans and strategic initiatives
• Background in business development or project management
• Superior quantitative modeling skills and a sound understanding of finance
• Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects with several deliverables under tight deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Resourceful self-starter with a strong desire to learn
• Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to persuade others, build consensus and work within a team
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Excellent research skills and ability to organize, synthesize and present information
• Strong project management and proven leadership skills
• Experience in/or desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment
• Prior experience with new business development and launches
• Experience in animation production or television production
• 8-10 years in entertainment
• Bachelor's degree
• MBA or other relevant graduate degree
