Full Time Job
The Ad Sales Director for WarnerMedia's African entertainment channels, websites and digital properties, will be in charge of all Ad Sales revenue for media platforms across the African territories, representing key brands including Cartoon Network, Boomerang, TNT and Toonami.
This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional relationship manager with both the expertise and connections in key markets to maximise existing partnerships and develop potential growth territories.
Essential job functions
• Overseeing South African and Nigerian On-Air Advertising Representatives (Ad Rep) responsible for:
• Commercial strategy, targets, negotiations, monitoring of revenue vs competition, pricing analysis and pricing strategy with the ad rep, commercial operations, Business to Business Ad Rep Marketing, incentive, Ad Rep road shows in media agencies, client meetings with Ad Rep, developing long term partnerships with senior executives and top management level of key advertisers and media agencies (existing and potential clients)
• Business Development, Digital Strategy
• Identify new opportunities, prepare business analysis and strategy, build business case and business plan in conjunction with finance, present and validate plans to top management, implement plans accordingly to deliver revenue and results
• Particular areas of development identified: Pay TV advertising in Kenya, Ghana | Free To Air partnership blocks of ad funded programming | YouTube and Digital | Branded content
• Oversee cost control in order to decrease Ad insertions technical fees and commission: negotiation with Ad Rep and Operators
• Oversee commercial research in order to maintain a good and updated knowledge of African countries, on air online advertising markets (agencies, sizes, brands, regulation)
• Work with programming teams to adapt programming strategy and channel positioning in order to maximise audience and revenues
• Responsibility for managing revenue and costs: planning and forecasting, making sure that invoices are processed locally and with central teams, and that revenue is recognised on time
• Managing a team of one (with the possibility to increase the team if it makes business sense), you will manage and mentor to help grow the profile of any team members to achieve the best result in Ad Sales operation and Advertising Sales
Person specification
• Experience in the media/Pay TV is essential
• Proven track record of ad Sales and/or marketing experience
• Strong relationship manager with expertise and connections in key markets and growth regions is a key requirement
• Business-savvy, with knowledge of the African business environment and the ability to effectively background check businesses and identify reliable partners
• Understanding of global market value - key growth categories (food, banking etc.)
• Adept at working with data and analytics; able to work with research teams to find the data to support business activity
• An understanding of the advertising value chain and stakeholders
• Expertise in financial process would be a plus
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken is required
• Ability to travel as required
