Job Description:
Job Title: Legal Analyst Business and Legal Affairs (Miami Beach, Florida)
A little bit about our team:
Reports to Head of Business & Legal Affairs. Primary job responsibilities include assisting in contract drafting of different types of artist agreements and coordinating various projects for the Legal team. In addition, secondary task include but are not limited to providing administrative support for the Legal team. Under the supervision of an attorney, draft, revise and finalize various artist-related agreements and other documents. Act as document gatekeeper for all legal documents within the Legal team and ensure that all documents are accurately filed and updated electronically. Provide administrative support for a busy team in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to prioritize and multi-task. Prepare and compose written correspondences, emails, reports or any other documents. Resolve routine inquiries from internal departments as necessary. Ability to handle confidential matters appropriately and with discretion and independence.
Here you'll get to:
• Draft and review various documents (including basic and more complex artist related agreements). Assist in negotiation process of certain agreements and handle AFM union issues. Prepare correspondence (e.g., memos, emails, and letters) as needed.
• Create and maintain documentation on rights, options, royalties, advances, guarantees, existing catalog and corporate data. Respond on a timely basis to inquiries from internal business units.
• Monitor ongoing contractual relationships and create triggers for deadlines and shifting priorities. Maintain filing system (both hard-copy and electronic), including the scanning of documents into the database and the handling of executed documents.
• Render general assistance to the A&R, sales, marketing, and creative departments regarding any documents that may be required from such departments. Obtain the necessary approvals for agreements.
• Assist with any special projects, as required
• Work on other responsibilities, as assigned
Job Requirements:
• BA/BS and JD required.
• Current membership in Florida or New York Bar.
• A minimum of 1-2 years of experience either in a law firm or a corporate environment.
• Must be fluent in Spanish and English
It would be music to our ears if you also had:
• Organizational skills and the ability to be a self-starter and fast learner. Analytical skills, an ability to work under pressure, an ability to work on own but also within a team oriented environment, and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts; Understanding of transactional work, as well as Trademark and IP law.
• Preferable, but not essential, prior record label or music publishing, or other entertainment, media, or new media related experience.
• Ability to write and speak in Spanish.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
