Coordinator, Audience Insights
Job Description:
A little bit about our team:
The Audience Insights unit is part of WMG/WEA's broader Research Analysis (R A) team. We are a centralized global resource tasked with delivering impactful, actionable information at various levels (corporate, WEA, label) across the organization. Insights on consumer behaviors and attitudes, marketplace movements, and strategic developments emanating from our area inform strategic and operational decision-making.
Why this could be your next big break:
You will play an important role on the front line of a team that is enthusiastic about leveraging data to position our company and artists to win in today's dynamic music and entertainment environment. If you love uncovering insights from data as much as you love music, this job is for you.
Here you'll get to:
• Dive into quantitative consumer research/survey data and translate it into insight
• Use data populated in dashboards to profile artist audiences and consumer segments based on demographic, psychographic, behavioral, affinity, and attitudinal attributes
• Further manipulate data via various third-party research solutions and interfaces (crosstabbing and data visualization tools)
• Assess uptake of new devices and technologies (e.g., smart speakers, VR, etc.)
• Analyze consumer usage of and interest in music-related products and content categories (e.g., streaming, playlists, podcasts, original videos, social media, etc.)
• Explore other hot topics and elucidate consumer trends
• Track traffic to company-owned and competitive digital properties
• Extract third-party forecasts for adjacent industries/sectors (e.g., ad spending, device/technology penetration, etc.)
• Assist colleagues in actioning data and insights in areas such as traditional marketing, brand partnerships/licensing, business development, partner and account management, etc.
• Find the story in the data and communicate findings in creative and compelling ways – 'one sheets,' PowerPoint decks, infographics, GIFs, etc.
• Prepare and disseminate analyses, reports, and materials for newsletters and research rundowns
• Field ad-hoc requests and determine appropriate resources from the research toolkit to respond with, as a groupwide 'go-to'
• Provide input and feedback on research instruments (e.g., survey questionnaires, qualitative discussion guides, etc.)
• Construct and program basic surveys via tools like Survey Monkey, Qualtrics, etc.
Rockstar candidates will be able to:
• Leverage their BA degree (or better) in a market research-related or social science discipline (Sociology, Social Psychology, Statistics, Data Science, etc.) on real-world business projects
• Bring their 1 – 3 years of hands-on experience and solid quantitative research and analytical skills – i.e., working with survey data, constructing crosstabs, utilizing databases and research tools – to bear on this position
• Focus on detailed data without losing sight of the big picture
• Channel their curious, inquisitive, and resourceful nature in productive ways
• Sanity-check and 'smell test' data to assess accuracy and veracity
• Take a critical eye toward, provide context, and explain nuances around data from disparate sources
• Make data sing in insightful and impactful ways
• Easily and extensively make use of Excel and PowerPoint, in particular
• Learn new tools easily
It would be music to our ears if you also had:
• Strong communication, writing, and visual storytelling skills
• Familiarity with qualitative research projects
• Experience with various third-party research interfaces and software packages (e.g., comScore, Nielsen, Ipsos, Telmar, SPSS or other statistical packages, etc.)
