Job Description
The Digital Audio Archivist/QC Engineer is part of the WEA Studio Services team and works closely with A&R personnel from various WMG labels. The primary job responsibility is ensuring that audio masters are delivered to the WEA Archive and preserved for future use. This involves downloading files and transferring them to archival media in addition to cataloging and creation of master delivery reports. Once a delivery is complete master files are processed to ensure future workstation compatibility and are uploaded to the WEA Master Archive Repository. Another function of this role is assisting with Quality Assurance of audio masters for supply chain integration. This involves listening checks for distortion, dropouts and other audible anomalies as well as metadata verification and asset registration.
Role and Responsibilities
• Receives master deliveries for new releases from producers, engineers and A&R
• Copies files to flash drives, hard drives and optical media
• Catalogs masters in the WEA Master Library System database
• Prepares and submits delivery reports to A&R
• Processes and uploads files to server based archive repository (includes file consolidation, format conversion and metadata entry)
• Follow technical trends to ensure best preservation practices are being used
• Retrieves and delivers files to authorized requesters
• Checks audio for audible anomalies
• Verifies metadata is complete and accurate
• Registers audio for supply chain integration
Experience Requirements
Audio engineering experience with an understanding of the entire production process from tracking to mastering. Must have at least an intermediate proficiency level using ProTools and Logic. Previous experience providing quality assurance of audio and/or video content is preferred.
