Job Description:
Position: Accounting Manager, WM Latina
Reports To: Controller, WM Latina
Location: Miami, FL
Department Description:
The Finance Department at WM Latina is responsible for supporting the accuracy and completeness of financial statements and monitoring compliance with accounting policies and procedures. In addition, the finance department is responsible for ensuring that internal control policies are adequate and implemented. The department is a partner to all other departments with regards to making strategic decisions that benefit the company.
High Level Job Description:
Perform several accounting functions while simultaneously working with other departments. Must be able to identify the correct accounts to use by familiarizing themselves with the chart of accounts, accounting policies and systems to ensure correct reporting. The position requires being able to identify and address anomalies if internal controls and policies are not followed. Candidate must endeavor to reach a solution on their own first and then consult the controller, with a flexible and open attitude towards learning, workload completion, best practices and communication.
Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
• Execute the monthly close and inform proactively the controller of deviations from schedule;
• Prepare month-end journal entries, as part of the monthly close including cash, Accounts Receivable, fixed assets, royalties, intercompany, accruals, etc.;
• Supervise the Finance Coordinator in performing the Accounts Payables function (manage vendor and purchase orders, verify supporting documentation and sign checks/wires);
• Review the monthly intercompany billing and confirmation with affiliates;
• Effectively work with the WMG's accounting shared services division to obtain the information needed for the month-end close process;
• Perform monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations on an ongoing basis;
• Ensure the vendors are paid on time and supported by the correct and appropriate documentation;
• Work with the Royalty department in providing necessary information for the royalty statements;
• Assist in the preparation of the monthly cash forecast;
• Liaise with shared services and/or corporate for any statutory reporting, including 1099 and 1042 reporting;
• Collaborate with the A&R and Marketing Departments with regards to artist payment analysis and budgets;
• Work on special projects as assigned including testing of accounting system changes/upgrades, documentation of procedures and others;
• Review data flow/interface and the process between accounting systems and other sub-systems;
• Assist in the external and internal audit process by preparing schedules and analyses;
• Effectively collaborate with both internal and external communities including IT management, business development, legal and corporate offices;
• Participate in purchase order/payment procedures training to other departments;
• Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential;
• Maintain financial security and reporting accuracy by adhering to internal controls and global accounting policies;
• Work independently in resolving outstanding issues in accounting and reporting, investigate them and provide solutions;
Required Competencies/Skills:
• 6 years of strong accounting experience in a global corporation with 2-3 years in a supervisory role;
• Solid understanding of US GAAP;
• Experience with Oracle database accounting software preferred;
• Strong ability to navigate systems to recognize and implement operational efficiencies and reduce redundancies;
• Well-developed business acumen, including ability to recognize, follow up and remedy accounting/business issues while relying on judgment and extensive experience to accomplish goals;
• Ability to interpret, apply and ensure compliance with internal controls and global accounting policies;
• Strong organizational skills and a commitment to meeting reporting deadlines;
• Desire to grow and develop both professionally and personally;
• Strong team player with ability to interact with all levels of staff in the organization.
Special Requirements/Preferences:
• Fully bi-lingual (English/Spanish);
• Experience with Concur, GFS, HFM, FDM and Business Objects a plus;
• Recorded Music industry experience preferred;
• Availability to work over the standard schedule during closing and special projects;
Education
Required:
• BA in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (4-year degree) from an accredited university.
