Full Time Job
Warner Bros. Tchnical Operations Inc. seeks a Sr. Engineer, Production Technology for the Content Technology & Operations: Production Technology department. This position will provide agile white glove tech support for WB live action feature productions and WB TV shows on the WB studio lots and at remote production facilities and shoot locations around the world. This experienced engineer will define workflow related requirements, evaluate solution options, order, install, configure, and provide comprehensive support for desktop computing & VDI environments, mobile devices, local & cloud file storage &VMs, remote & cloud editorial, VFX and artist systems , desktop, server and cloud hosted software applications, digital media playback systems, physical security systems, local area networks, encrypted drives and other peripheral devices.
The Daily
Desktop/Server/Cloud Support
• Install, configure, deploy and support Mac & PC desktop hardware and software, including virtual desktop environments.
• Provide desktop support, onboard/offboard users, and provide training for cloud applications such as Box, Aspera on Cloud, Office 365, Pix, Shotgun, RV, Cinesyc, SyncOnset, Scenechronize, Digital Asset Management systems, EP Smart Accounting & Smart Start, and Cast & Crew PSL and Start .
• Install & support desktop applications including MS Office, Final Draft, Movie Magic Budgeting & Scheduling, Adobe Creative Cloud suite, Maya, Sketchbook, Zbrush and other content creation programs.
• Patch & remediate security vulnerabilities on desktop computers, servers, and infrastructure devices manually and using automated patch tools (e.g. JAMF, Intune).
• Install, configure, deploy, and manage on premise and cloud hosted virtual machines and storage (Synology, Qnap, Pixit Media, Isilon as well as AWS, Azure, and Simple Cloud) and the associated racks, power supplies, and cooling systems as well as cloud storage buckets, VMs, and containers. Monitor server room environment and equipment health as well as cloud performance, responding as needed to issues.
• Set up and support FileMaker Pro databases hosted both on local servers and in the cloud.
• Set up firewalls (e.g. Palo Alto, Fortinet, Murus), switches, wifi access points, and other network equipment and cabling for local production networks. Troubleshoot & support production VLANs (e.g. StudioNet, Prod Net) on the WB Burbank studio lot and at remote production locations, coordinating with local WB and third party network management resources.
• Install & support videoconference and A/V system hardware & software.
• Investigate complex hardware problems by contacting vendors and other WB Technology resources to resolve incidents and develop solutions .
• Provides on-call support for the above technologies around the world as required 7 x 24.
Production Engineering
• Participate in technology orientation meetings with individual production teams.
• Collaborate with production crew and vendors to define content (VFX, Post, Art) workflows. architect and implement applications, servers, shared workstations,4K VFX media review systems, local/remote/cloud editorial systems, and accelerated file transfer services (e.g. Aspera on Cloud) to facilitate these workflows.
• Deploy security camera systems with video storage on servers and in the cloud, as well as other physical security systems for server rooms.
• Collaborate with vendors to design and implement network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, SohoNet P2P/Internet, Aruba wireless access points, VLANS, VPN for remote access) for productions on the WB studio lot, third party production faciliries, and remote greenfield production locations.
• Interface with VFX and post production vendors as required to securely incorporate their pipeline applications, servers, and equipment into the production facility and/or network.
• Document logical network diagrams for individual production networks.
• Research, test, and document new technologies considered for use.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of Content Protection & Production Technology Policies & Best Practices as well as BYOD policies. Contribute to policy updates.
Printer and Scanner Support
• Provides break/fix support for printers and ScanSnap scanners.
Inventory and Procurement
• Maintain and track inventory of shared workstations, servers, Cintiq tablets, iPads, and other peripherals.
• Procure software and hardware as needed for productions.
• Order and deploy rental computers for productions
Track installed production software (Filemaker Pro, MMB, MMS, Final Draft, Maya, Zbrush) licenses, renew and remove from BYOD computers when crew is offboarded.
The Essentials
Work Experience
• Ten years overall experience desired in an IT engineer/system admin capacity.
• Experience working alongside & technically supporting feature production crew during development, prep, production, and post production.
• Must have experience with enhanced content protection and info security best practices in accordance with MPPA best practices and info security ISO standards.
Education

Knowledge/Skills
• Expertise in configuring and supporting Isilon, Pixit Media, Qnap,and/or Synology Linux servers, VMware Vsphere, cloud DR backups, cloud VMs & storage buckets, PC/Linux/Mac desktops, fiber and ethernet installation, Palo Alto, Fortinet, & Murus firewalls, Aspera on Cloud, MS Active Directory, MS Office 365 and Azure AD, AWS, Cloudberry, Box, FTPS/SFTP, Caspar, SSCM, CITRIX, Abobe Creative Cloud suite (and other graphic design desktop software), encryption software, accounting software (MMB, MMS, C&C PSL, EP Smart Accounting), production software (Shotgun, RV, PIX, Sync OnSet, Scenechonize,).
• Ability to analyze existing operations & workflows to identify improvement opportunities.

• Must be self-driven and a good oral and email communicator, as this role will often work alone with minimal technical supervision.
