The Job
Warner Bros. Entertainment Canada Inc. seeks a Manager, Human Resources for CAN Admn Human Resources department. We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to join the team to lead the HR function for the WB Toronto office and other CAN client groups as needed, by applying best-in-class HR principles around business planning, recruitment, performance management, employee relations, legal compliance, etc. The HR manager will be the key HR partner to the business supporting business strategies through HR activities, programs and initiatives.
The Daily
• Business Partnership: Build effective relationships and collaborate with internal partners, including business leaders, Burbank HR partners and COE partners, to deliver effective programs and people practices consistent with business objectives for the region.
• Talent Acquisition: Responsible for managing effective recruitment activities for WB Toronto Canada and other support groups as needed, in accordance with existing procedures and policies. This includes working with business leaders to set and maintain hiring plans under WB corporate objectives; overseeing the progress of vacancies; negotiating offers and better rates and terms with recruitment agencies; and reviewing salary justifications against compensation ranges, market data and internal comparators. Work with Corp Compensation to get necessary approvals.
• Learning & Development- Provide career and development opportunities in partnership with L&D partners and business leaders to ensure we can retain and develop key talent.
• Culture: Be a strong cultural agent for the region by working with leaders, employees and COEs to foster a fair, inclusive, collaborative, and fun workplace to drive engagement.
• Performance Management: Oversee the performance management process through partnerships with management and executive staff. Provide training opportunities in performance management for leaders, including activities and metrics to ensure that goals are consistently being met in an effective and efficient manner. Coach management on how to best communicate expectations and performance feedback on an ongoing basis. Lead employee relations effort by providing guidelines and developing performance plans to correct performance deficiencies, writes disciplinary documentation, partners with Corp. employment attorneys and handles necessary terminations. Manage the annual performance and salary review process.
• Change Management: Serve as a leader in driving organizational change. Facilitate change initiatives for client group(s) including coaching management on planning and communications and ensuring change understanding.
• Administration: Ensure that Human Resources policies and procedures are implemented and updated effectively. Maintain accuracy of employee records and HRIS data with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion. Educate management on workforce analysis, headcount planning and related HR metrics to assess and influence / drive business decisions. Perform ad hoc reconciliation projects as needed.
The Essentials
• University Degree/HR experience required.
• At least 5 years work experience in similar industry in a multinational company environment.
• Minimum of three years experience in a management role.
• Experience of C & B program design/implementation, recruitment .
• Good knowledge of labor laws/regulations.
• Able to work in a demanding and ever changing environment.
• Familiar with complex and dynamic company structures.
• Familiar with reporting to US parent company and US style of management.
• Confident and assertive; strong influencing and negotiation skills.
• Hands on approach to work.
• Able to think outside of the box .
• Able to apply common sense and logic to problems rather than relying on strict procedure.
• Must have the ability to maintain good working relationships with management and staff at all levels.
• Performs other related duties as necessary.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of personnel, both in person and on the telephone.
• Must be able to pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions.
