Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Inc. seeks a Digital Product Management MBA Intern-Summer 2019 for the Digital Product Management department. The MBA Intern, Digital Product Management is responsible for assisting with the methodologies and research behind Warner Bros. Interactive's efforts to optimize game appeal, retention, and consumer value. The position will help evangelize the Development & Design frameworks that are winning in today's marketplace (Console & Mobile) by synthesizing internal and external research reports into actionable presentations for Production, Marketing & Sales, Sr. Management, and all other WBIE functions. The position will assist WBIE's Digital Product Management (DPM) department in order to optimize the consumer in-game experience. In addition, the ideal candidate would have a strong analytics and/or psychology background combined with a solid understanding of the game creation process. This person should be a team player, self-motivated, highly literate in video games, and able to communicate complex ideas and themes.
Job Responsibilities
• Collaborate with WBIE Sr. Production Management to set short and long-term production and development strategies and tactics designed to produce timely, efficient, quality products that meet company goals.
• Communicate to influence and convince important decision makers. Receive, transmit and interpret highly complex information. Interact with Management to keep abreast of company plans and strategies.
• Conducts a wide variety of research to support development decisions:
• Conducts analysis as well as the deconstruction of game design and retention mechanisms.
• Defines and executes research definitions.
• Recommends research topics based on market trends and consumer values as well as needs in WBIE's product slate.
• Drive competitive research, teardowns, and benchmarks of external games and translate best practices into actionable product strategies and tactical roadmaps.
• Key, main driver in creating presentations on WBIE game-focused analytics, design and research analyses. Responsible for:
• Clear, unbiased communication of industry, genre, design and consumer value trends and specific product evaluations.
• Clear, unbiased explanation and evangelization of Consumer Game Analytics, philosophies, terminology and methodologies.
• Communicating to a diverse range of personalities, backgrounds, seniority and sensitivities with an eye to productive collaboration.
• Willingness to learn game production and design processes is ideal. It's essential to ''speak the language of game development'' when communicating data and trends.
What do we require from you?
• BA or BS degree required.
• MBA in progress from an accredited school.
• Continued education in the areas of technical communication, psychology, and statistics a plus.
• 2 years work experience in the video game industry is ideal, but not absolutely necessary.
• 2 years work experience related to consumer research, and/or the use of statistical methods for understanding consumer behavior in the entertainment industry would be ideal.
• Broad knowledge or experience in entertainment is ideal. Specific areas of value are direct work experience in game production, Mobile games, retail sales, AAA marketing/market analysis, PR, finance, and data science and consumer behavior.
• Must be comfortable self-developing and presenting to top management on a variety of industry topics and trends.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Team player.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and presentational skills.
• Passion for video games. Broad knowledge of the games industry, including an understanding of various game mediums: consoles, mobile, Free-2-Play games, and social games with team-based multi-player mechanics.
• Clear understanding of various market segments and their purchasing and play behaviors including, youth, casual, and core demographics.
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, - especially PowerPoint. This position will be creating a lot of PPT ''Decks''. Word, Excel, and Online/internet skills, etc.
• Statistical experience and data modeling desired.
• A passion for self-education in diverse areas such as prediction/forecasting, psychology, statistics, and complex systems.
• Highly organized and self-directed; able to keep on an assigned track without supervision.
• Must display resourcefulness, enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity and self-motivation.
• Self-starter with high level of initiative/energy, conscientious with a strong sense of ownership.
