What part will you play?
We are seeking a Director to join the Labor Relations TV Production team. In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
• Investigates and resolves claims/grievances with DGA, SAG, IATSE, and Basic Crafts locals for union employees.
• Gathers/researches data for litigation, NLRB charges, arbitration proceedings, and negotiations. Also gathers various statistics from departments and arranges them when necessary for negotiations. Conducts research as it relates to state and federal labor/employment law.
• Conducts workplace investigations involving employee misconduct and drafts disciplinary notices where applicable.
• Obtains factual basis for and processes various union waiver requests (e.g. if talent wants to use a make-up artist that is not a union member). Requests credit waivers for productions wishing to amend credits on a case-by-case basis.
• Responds to/investigates late payment claims by SAG and other unions, along with other claims. Reviews claim checks against payroll history and negotiates settlements where appropriate.
• Supports and attends Step II grievance hearings and arbitration proceedings.
• Conducts in-house surveys requested by the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers relating to customary practices of contract administration at our studio.
• Responds to inquiries from Casting, Production offices and individual productions regarding the application and interpretation of the Screen Actors Guild and other union Agreements.
• Assists in negotiating policies and procedures for WGA, DGA, SAG and MPIPP audits; Labor Relations Liaison for in-house auditors; maintains audit files.
• Submits quarterly pension reports to various unions/guilds. Responds to inquiries regarding such reports.
• Attend meetings and negotiations at the AMPTP.
What do we require from you?
• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business or related field.
• Knowledge of contracts and complaint process.
• Previous experience working in an industrial, labor relations or major law firm environment.
Bonus points for?
• JD strongly preferred.
• Member of CA State Bar.
• Previous motion picture industry labor relations experience.
