Publicity Director (Freeform)
Job Summary:
Responsible for the development and implementation of effective publicity strategies, campaigns and execution resulting in positive media (print, electronic and online) placement to maximize opportunities across all Freeform platforms. Candidate must have experience creating and helping to execute press opportunities for programming including primetime scripted series, alternative programming, specials and live events. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, create and implement strategy, devise interesting pitch angles and make quick informed decisions as necessary for the nature of live/alternative programming, as well as scripted series. The work load varies, but the publicity director will juggle multiple shows at once and take on department projects as required, including largescale tentpole events such as ''31 Nights of Halloween,'' ''Countdown to 25 Days,'' ''25 Days of Christmas'' and more. The person will need to be able to take direction and have excellent follow up and attention to detail. Ideal candidate will also have management experience.
Responsibilities:
• Create publicity materials that are distributed to media outlets and the public.
• Identify publicity opportunities for program, talent and network programming executives.
• Represent the networks viewpoint when developing publicity strategies for programming, talent and production executives.
• Help shape network messaging for talent interviews and appearances.
• Put talent in front of the media to help build viewership.
• Visit production sets to establish rapport with production crews, producers and talent and to develop story strategies.
• Pitch storyline coverage, talent and interview opportunities to media outlets.
• Setup media interviews for talent and coordinate set visits for the press.
• Accompany the press on set visits.
• Respond to requests from media outlets for information, clips, interviews and set access.
• Respond to viewer inquires for Audience Relations.
• Research local markets media outlets.
• Coordinate radio press tours not handled by Broadcast Digital Publicity.
• Schedule talent appearances with media outlets (e.g. E! Access Hollywood, GMA).
• Coordinate interviews for talent with press.
• Fact check story information for media writers and editors.
• Review storylines with programming executives.
• Attend producers meetings, table reads and tapings.
• Work with Broadcast Publicity to coordinate radio press tours, EPK productions, satellite press tours and prepare show clips for distribution.
• Read scripts to draft synopses for Photography and to craft story angles for the media.
• Work with Photo Producers on coordinating episodic photo coverage.
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in public relations, advertising, communications or related field
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Ability to thrive in high-pressure environment
• Effective communications; demonstrated writing and presentation abilities
• Great press contacts
• Equal parts outstanding team player and self-starter
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite product
Preferred Qualifications:
• Talent relations experience
• Editorial background a plus
• Digital and social media know-how
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
