Job Summary:
The Walt Disney Television is composed of the Walt Disney Company's (NYSE: DIS) global entertainment and news television properties, including the world's largest television studio. A Manager of Strategy & Business Planning serves as a key member of the Strategy and Finance group for Freeform, Disney's cable and digital network for Young Adults (original series include Good Trouble, grown-ish, Party of Five, The Bold Type). This role will work closely with Freeform's Programming and Research teams in order to manage and evaluate strategic, financial and operational initiatives for the network. In addition, the Manager will conduct research, modeling and analysis to support new and existing business opportunities. Through partnerships with key stakeholders your work will include: performing strategic and financial analyses, decision support, analyzing new business initiatives. By providing project management and high-quality, thoughtful insights, the Manager plays an integral role in supporting the short-term and long-term financial success of this billion dollar business. This role works closely with Freeform and WDT leadership, and the individual must be an excellent communicator, comfortable presenting to senior executives and stakeholders across TWDC.
Responsibilities:
• Help drive the Annual Operating Plan and the Five Year Strategic Plan; evaluate Freeform's short and long term business and investment strategy
• Partner with Programming teams to evaluate optimal content strategies for the network
• Provide modeling and strategic insights to support programming greenlight decisions for original programming and content acquisitions (series and movies)
• Collaborate with key executives to research, model, and evaluate on a variety of strategic projects and initiatives for the network
• Monitor industry trends and interpret the strategic implications for the business
• Develop and communicate presentation materials and detailed reports for senior executives
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5-7 years of prior experience in quantitative roles, preferably with a media and entertainment company, management consultancy, investment bank
• MBA from a top-tier business school preferred
• Deep knowledge of the television business and media ecosystem
• Analytical skills, financial modeling, and research skills, with high proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
• Excellent interpersonal skills; highly effective at working with a variety of business partners and diverse stakeholders
• Fluency in communicating complex ideas and data sets graphically in an effective way for senior-level executives
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent project management skills
• Takes initiative and is a self-starter, with the ability to manage projects from inception
• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a collaborative team
• Familiarity with working in or with large organizations
