Responsibilities:
A Day in the Life...
The Technology Innovation Group is looking for an intern to help with the day-to-day technical responsibilities of the team. The Technology Innovation Group is a collection of technologists and creatives working within the Walt Disney Studios to create and deploy technology tools with the goal of developing better ways to make movies today and creating new ways to tell our stories tomorrow.
An intern's tasks and responsibilities can include, but are not limited to:
• Program Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality/3D applications
• Develop pipeline tools for 3D content creation and/or 2D media generation
• Aid in the creation of proofs-of-concepts that incorporate many technology layers
• Aid in troubleshooting previously built proof-of-concepts
• Explore and research newly released technology and devices
Basic Qualifications:
• Candidate should be a programmer proficient in both high-level scripting languages (e.g., Python) and lower-level compiled languages (e.g., C/C )
• Be a strong communicator (written and spoken)
• Strong computer graphics knowledge
• Comfortable with computer hardware
• Ability to learn new APIs and SDKs quickly
• Understand digital art pipeline for film and/or video game production
• Candidates at a Master's Student level of education/experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
• Game/graphics engine programming/experience (Unity preferred)
• iOS Development experience (AR experience a plus)
• Machine Learning tools and techniques applied to 3D Interactive Experiences
• 3D tools programming (Autodesk Maya scripting/plugins or other)
• Shader programming (OSL/GLSL/HLSL/Cg)
• Computer vision programming/experience
• General Web programming (HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Ruby on Rails, Django)
Required Education
Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field at an accredited college/university and returning to school following the internship.
Additional Information:
• At the time of application, must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• Must provide full work availability
• Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are May/June - August/September 2022. Interns must be fully available for the duration of a 12-week assignment.
