Paralegal – Rights (PH)
Job Summary:
The Rights Paralegal position is part of the Rights & Participations team within Studio Legal Affairs, and is responsible for researching and analyzing contractual rights and obligations in support of Walt Disney Studios, 20th Century Studios, Searchlight Pictures and Walt Disney Animation. This Project Hire role that will allow you to join the legal team on a project with anticipated project length of 12 months, subject to extension.
Responsibilities:
Research and analyze legal contracts with respect to motion picture and allied rights and studio obligations for the studio divisions' library pictures, including Walt Disney Pictures, 20th Century Studios, Searchlight and Animation.
• Work with rights attorneys to organize legal files for review and discussion with Rights & Participations team attorneys.
• Enter information into a centralized database for picture-specific motion picture and allied rights and studio obligations.
Basic Qualifications:
• Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience in a law firm, media or technology company preferred
• 2 years of experience in rights management in a film or TV studio, or production company
• Understanding of distribution rights, obligations and talent restrictions
• Proficiency with Word, Excel and database systems
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment with deadline pressure
Required Education
Bachelor's degree and/or qualification to be a paralegal by certification or education and work experience as set forth by the American Bar Association and any applicable state codes
