Summary
The Assistant Retail Store Manager will assist in ensuring that team members are trained and well prepared to provide seamless retail operations. They will be crossed trained with other management roles, oversee daily sales and manage the retail associate with their day to day operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maximize sales and profitability while maintaining a high quality of customer service:
Make suggestions to develop new sales strategies.
Understand the customer and retail values - discuss price changes with Retail Manager.
Assist with maintaining merchandise displays.
Supervise sales floor and associates.
Assist with managing controllable costs maintaining profitable operations.
Address customer complaints and issues professionally as well as handling sales associate conflicts, complaints, and problems. Bring issues to the attention of the Retail Manager when necessary.
Assist with maintaining inventory including the following:
Assist with controlling inventory shrinkage and or loss.
Ensure inventory procedures are followed and executed correctly to include shipping, receiving and cycle counts.
Assist with developing proper sales and support staff:
Maintain company rules and standards.
Help establish and maintain a positive work atmosphere per company guidelines.
Assist with evaluating and coaching sales associates and staff.
Assist with managing and monitoring accounting and financial results:
Manage end of day procedures in the absence of the Retail Manager.
Manage daily credit card reconciliation process in the absence of the Retail Manager.
Assist with scheduling for timely and safe bank deposits.
Assist with managing store operations and logistical functions:
Make recommendations/refinements to equipment for better efficiency.
Evaluate and enforce proper Health and Safety standards to ensure compliance.
Help to protect employees and customers by ensuring a safe and clean store environment.
Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree or equivalent experience in retail management.
At least 3 years in a supervisory role in a museum, retail, arts, live event, or hospitality setting.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Excellent time management; must possess strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication (bilingual is a plus.)
Ability to work under pressure with a heightened sense of urgency.
Ability prioritize duties for effective and successful events.
Availability to tour, working extended hours, holidays and weekends dependent upon business demands.
Must be dedicated, reliable and punctual.
Demonstrate positive and professional behavior towards clients and co-workers at all times.
Self-motivated with ability to work independently and be a team player.
Cash handling experience
Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Pleasant, professional, outgoing and articulate manner and appearance
