Part Time Unpaid Internship
Monument Releasing and Visit Films, an independent film distributor and worldwide sales company based in Brooklyn, are seeking hard-working, organized, and detail-oriented part-time interns for the fall semester to fill roles in Distribution & Marketing and Sales & Marketing.
The interns will work one-on-one with a small team, and will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in every aspect of film distribution and sales, from acquisition to post-theatrical release.
Unlike most film industry internships, this position will never require the intern to go on coffee runs. Every task will be related specifically to the process of film sales and releasing. Since we have a small staff, the intern will be given a wide-range of responsibilities on a variety of tasks, including:
- Audience outreach and engagement
- Organizational outreach and engagement
- Assisting in the design of marketing and advertising materials
- Drafting film-specific pitches for theaters and digital platforms
- Coordinating the delivery of prints and advertising materials
- Coverage of potential acquisitions
- Database entry
Work schedules are flexible, but prospective interns would be expected to work 15-20 hours per week. This position is unpaid but college credit can be made available. Please consult your school and provide the necessary internship documents.
While previous experience in film is a strong asset, the ideal candidate possesses a love for independent and foreign language film and a desire to learn more about the business. Exemplary writing skills, a professional demeanor, and strong organizational skills are essential. A successful candidate is someone who can be trusted to manage important tasks and is comfortable working independently. Candidates with knowledge of Photoshop and/or InDesign will have a significant advantage, but neither is a requirement. Previous experience in outreach, marketing, or publicity is strongly preferred.
This internship is open to current college students of sophomore standing or above. To apply, please send your resume, a cover letter, and a brief statement (no more than 300 words) about what you believe to be the most under-appreciated film released theatrically in 2018. All application materials should be sent as PDFs and may be addressed to Zoe Guy and Gavin Briscoe. All applicants must be available for 15-20 hours a week during the internship period (9/10/2018-12/7/2018).
Applications on this platform and through email are both acceptable. Please send email applications to Zoe Guy at zg at visitfilms.com with the subject line ''Fall Internship Application - YOUR NAME''.
