Senior Manager, Social Impact - Entertainment & Youth Brands
Overview and Responsibilities
The ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Brands Social Impact team is charged with using our superpowers for good! The team develops and leads multi-platform social change initiatives that empower the brands’ audiences to affect the biggest challenges facing the nation, including on matters of racial justice, civic engagement, mental health and other timely issues.
We are seeking a Social Impact Sr. Manager / Campaigner to join our Breakthrough Campaigns team. Our team leads cross- brand media representation campaigns, partnerships with non- profit and advocacy organizations, and collaborations across all departments to implement our Social Impact priorities – working closely with marketing, social, digital, development, news.
We’re a small team, and our Social Impact Sr. Manager has the opportunity to have an outsized impact.
Responsibilities
• Develop bold, high impact campaigns and activations for MTV, Comedy Central, VH1, CMT, Paramount Network, Logo, Pop TV, Smithsonian, and TV Land.
• Develop and generate creative campaign and activation ideas with the goal of engaging audiences aligned to our strategy – this might include and is not limited to creative rapid response ideas, identifying ways to demonstrate tentpole events to make an impact, and/or developing creative campaign ideas.
• Project lead the implementation of the team’s activations – working closely with internal partners (such as social, digital, creative, and marketing) as well as external partners.
• Work with producers, directors, and talent to execute social impact content integrations into storylines- from coordinating and attending formal shoots to developing content creator workshops.
• Provide feedback to production and show teams to align E & Y shows or films with standard methodologies and/or pro-social messaging.
• Develop and pitch creative, pro-social show integrations.
• Support the Social Impact Sr. Director and VP in developing the overarching social impact strategy for E & Y brands.
• Extend reach of brands in meaningful communities by securing and growing relationships with social talent, non-profits, advocacy groups, and other key partners.
• Willing to lead research projects and spearhead the development of pitch decks or creative briefs.
Basic Qualifications
• At least five years of professional experience, with a preference for those who have worked in the social impact field. Experience working in social impact at a creative agency, forward-thinking nonprofit, or media/technology company also a plus.
Additional Qualifications
• Deep passion for social justice and effecting social change, with the ability to think like a smart and strategic marketer.
• Ability to rapidly shift between multiple projects and priorities – keeping a clear focus on what really matters
• Comfortable on shoots, red carpets, and working with talent.
• Experience in communications and PR for social impact initiatives a plus
• Outstanding written and oral communications skills with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Digital, social media, and editorial savvy and plugged into pop culture, digital youth culture, and prosocial trends. Passion for film and TV.
• The Sr. Manager must be available to help us respond to breaking news, which could occur outside standard working hours. They must be reliable and willing to pitch in at a moment’s notice on a broad range of tasks, and have the ability to quickly pick up new skills.
