Director, Tentpole & Experiential Activation, Velocity
Overview & Responsibilities
Activation is a group dedicated to campaign development and execution across the ViacomCBS cable brands (minus BET) in partnership with our Ad Sales teams. The Tentpole & Experiential Activation team works across brands to develop multi-platform and OTG marketing extensions for our partners tied to tentpoles and experiences that support our brand IP.
We partner with the Brand (channel) teams as well as Velocity Pitch, Creative, and client-facing Activation teams to develop custom, integrated marketing solutions that deliver on client critical metrics and drive cultural conversation. The team is specifically responsible for concept development, activation, program management, and production resource management (internal & external).
We work on projects including but not limited to - Video Music Awards, Kids Choice Awards, Kid of the Year, CMT Awards, Paw Patrol Tour, Vidcon, Wild n' Out Tour, bespoke client activations, and many more. Our goal is to drive revenue by crafting content and fan experiences tapping into our biggest IP on behalf of our clients.
Responsibilities
• The Activation Director supports the Activation VP and oversees an Activation Manager.
• Directs strategy, development and execution of revenue-driving experiential opportunities and supporting content tied to our tentpoles, events, and channel priorities.
• Collaborates with Pitch & Activation account teams on RFP response and renewals, bringing initial ideation to channel teams to further co-develop into impactful opportunities in the voice of the respective brand/IP.
• Proactively develops sponsorable and bespoke partnership opportunities for tentpoles, events, tours and OTG experiences in collaboration with key partners. Coordinates development of applicable sales materials and leads execution once sold..
• Drives innovation for content and experiences, employing the latest trends and technology to ensure ground breaking, best-in-class marketing.
• Oversees tentpole branded content execution with show producers and liaises with Activation account teams to manage client feedback and approvals.
• Works with all major social platforms to bring new products to market for our partners and deliver sold campaigns.
• Manages both internal production teams and external agencies/vendors to ensure flawless delivery of contracted programs.
• Champions experiential marketing within Velocity and communicates/advocates for channel priorities and Sales goals.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree
• 8-10 years of experience developing and executing multiplatform marketing programs with a focus on experiential/event activation
Additional Qualifications
• Empathic leader and effective people manager
• Conversant in all social platforms to best activate fan engagement and marketing strategies
• Excellent written and oral presentation skills; comfortable presenting to large audiences
• PowerPoint wizardry!
• Ability to work effectively across multiple departments and external parties
• Comfortable working on multiple campaigns and proposals at once in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrate collaboration, negotiation skills, problem solving, multi-tasking, project management, creative ideation, pitching clients, building relationships and leadership
