What will you be doing?
In this exciting role you will be creating and taking the lead on the external corporate communications strategy for VCN UK's brands (incl. Channel 5, MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon) and wider lines of business, with a specific focus on amplifying VCN UK's pipeline of content and streaming platforms, to align with key business objectives.
We are on the verge of monumental change, moving from a linear and channel-based broadcaster to become a digital streaming powerhouse. Last year we were the number 1 content provider in the world, with ViacomCBS shows being viewed worldwide across a variety of different formats. This role will play a crucial part in how we tell our story both to our customers, as-well as key internal partners, and have a direct result on how well our digital streaming platforms perform.
• Develop and lead execution of corporate communications strategy for VCN UK across all brands and streaming platforms.
• Deliver a sustained drum beat of high-profile speaker opportunities, interviews and thought leadership for senior executives, in particular across content and commercial areas of the business.
• Lead trade and B2B media relations to proactively deliver a positive corporate narrative, which improves brand perception and reputation.
• Lead on issues and crisis management and oversee the programme risk process, in close liaison with consumer PR, commissioning, legal and compliance teams.
• Preparation and approval of relevant materials including news releases, talking points, Presentations, Q&As; plus media training where necessary.
• Develop a media relations programme to regularly engage key trade and B2B media, including coordinating press briefings and events.
• Support communications for VCN UK's diversity and inclusion commitments.
• Lead on policy communications for policy and regulatory matters in the UK, as well as for financial accounts.
• Manage and give strategic mentorship to other members of the communications team.
• Drive best-in-class communications, with a keen focus on data, measurement and media evaluation.
• Work as part of a matrix structure, with regular liaison with colleagues in the U.S. and other international markets, as well as internal comms and other key internal partners.
What are we looking for?
• Proven senior level communications experience in a related field, with a track record of landing outstanding coverage and campaigns.
• Excellent communicator with superb writing skills.
• Extensive experience of issues management, with a calm and meticulous approach, and excellent judgement.
• A strategic operator who can also roll their sleeves up and get stuck in.
• Knowledge of media/entertainment and broadcast industry issues, as well as a keen digital mentality.
• Excellent contacts with relevant trade, B2B, business and national media.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, across a wide breadth of areas and maintain excellent attention to detail.
• An innovative thinker with a can-do attitude, gravitas, enthusiasm and resourcefulness.
