Assignment Editor (Freelance)
Key Responsibilities:
Work with newsroom assignment editors, reporters, and producers in daily news coverage on multiple platforms.
We're looking for candidates who are digitally savvy, can multi-task in a fast-paced work environment, and can demonstrate a passion for news and telling compelling news stories.
Must have the ability to handle incoming calls and emails to news desk, work closely with other assignment editors and help support reporters, writers, and producers with news research, social media, and making phone calls
Required and Preferred:
Successful candidates must have a passion for local news and must be interested in learning how to identify and tell compelling stories
Must be a polished professional with excellent communication skills and phone skills
Bachelor's Degree required
Successful candidates will be expected to have a skill for working under pressure with attention to detail in a deadline environment
We are a newsroom that operates 24/7 - hours include weekend, holidays, late night and early morning.
Experience in editing helpful, not required
