Full Time Job
This individual is responsible for all legal matters related to the licensing and distribution of theatrical and non-theatrical motion pictures in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, Nassau, Freeport, the Bahamas and Bermuda.
Responsibilities
to include, but not limited to:
*Provide advice and counsel with respect to all legal aspects of domestic theatrical distribution
*Work closely with Distribution Sales team as well as Non-Theatrical Distribution, Operations and other distribution groups in documenting agreements including for airlines, military and vendors
*Render advice on United States antitrust laws, Canadian competition laws, Puerto Rico anti-monopolization law, as well as state and local laws (some with criminal components) that regulate theatrical distribution, as well as the U.S. vs. Paramount Consent Decree
*Represent Paramount in exhibitor audits and underreporting matters
*Work on industry matters with MPAA, Motion Picture Association – Canada, National Association of Theatre Owners, and other trade associations
*Implement policies for granting credit to exhibitors
*Monitor credit related lawsuits
*Propose and implement policies and procedures for distribution group, including the structure of deals and language for agreements
*Work closely with lawyers supporting international theatrical distribution
Basic Qualifications
* Juris Doctor degree
*Admitted to the California Bar, or ability to qualify as Registered In-House Counsel
*Outstanding academic credentials (high class rank or law review preferred)
*10 years legal experience, with at least 6 years relevant legal experience at a major law firm or film studio
*Experience negotiating and drafting distribution and license agreements, and handling intellectual property and antitrust issues
