The Social Media Manager for VidCon will provide the primary oversight of the social media platform and content strategy and execution for VidCon’s tent-pole events in the US, AU and London as well as the positioning and growth of the brand overall. In this role, the Social Media Manager is the go-to contact for all of the Company’s social media, digital marketing, content and editorial-related functions for the company and events. This role works proactively and collaboratively crafts successful social media and digital-first campaigns that increase VidCon’s brand awareness amongst its key audiences, drives successful global expansion, tracks the effectiveness of marketing methods (e.g. ticket sales), reports relevant information after each campaign, and manages the owned, earned and paid budget.
Job Description:
The Social Media Manager will administer the company’s social media marketing and advertising campaigns. Administration includes but is not limited to:
• Strategic and Creative planning
• Development of brand awareness and engagement with creators, brands, executives, talent agents and mangers
• Content management
• SEO (search engine optimization) and generation of inbound traffic
• Community leadership and participation (both online and offline) are integral to this role
• An essential component is communicating the company’s brand in a positive, authentic way what will increase engagement across VidCon’s social platform via innovative content and elevate the brand across Community, Creator and Industry audiences year-round (with an increased focus on global VidCon show dates)
• The Social Media Manager is instrumental in managing the company’s content-related assets
• Content management duties include:
• Administrate the creation and publishing of relevant, original, high-quality content
• Create editorial calendars that are relevant to the brand’s three audiences
• Leverage social media platforms to grow VidCon into lifestyle brand
• Create a regular publishing schedule and a budget to execute that schedule
• Mine for relevant “events” and experiences to spotlight the brand’s audiences
• Leverage the right tools to manage and track content
• Implement a content editorial calendar to manage content and plan specific, timely marketing campaigns
• Promote content through social advertising
• Key Performance Indicators Include:
• Develop and implement a social media marketing plan
• Brand Development that is communicated via social media content
• Identify target audiences and how best to engage with those audiences via social platforms year-round, to meet the company and shows’ goals
• Set Clear Objectives for growth
• Lead Visual Design and Web Development Strategy
• Promotion Strategy – owned, earned and paid (Social advertising strategy)
• Realistic Engagement Strategy
• Conversion Strategy (ticket sales, creator goodwill)
• Measure & Analyze to Establish ROI
A successful candidate will:
• Manage social media marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities including:
• Develop relevant content topics to reach the company’s audiences
• Create, curate, and manage all published content (images, video and written)
• Monitor, listen and respond to users in a “Social” way while cultivating relationships and brand promise
• Conduct online advocacy and open a stream for cross-promotions
• Develop and expand community and/or influencer outreach efforts
• Oversee design (ie: Facebook Timeline cover, profile pic, thumbnails, ads, landing pages, Twitter profile, Blog, etc.)
• Design, create and manage promotions and Social ad campaigns
• Manage efforts in building online reviews and reputation. Monitor online reviews and respond to each review
• Analyze key metrics and tweak strategy as needed
• Compile reports for management showing results (ROI)
• Demonstrate ability to map out a comprehensive marketing plan. Drive strategies that are proven by testing and metrics
• Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy
• Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising social media, content marketing, SEO and social advertising campaigns
• Monitor effective benchmarks (Best Practices) for measuring the impact of social media campaigns
• Analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results
Basic Qualifications
• College degree in a marketing or business-related field or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 5 – 7 years’ experience in social media, marketing or related role
• Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in the creation and analysis of major marketing campaigns across social media platforms
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with database/member/subscriber management
• Experience within a major media or public relations company preferred – agency experience is a highlight
• Proven team leader with results-oriented focus
• Excellent analytical, written and oral communication & presentation skills
• Must be effective at multi-tasking and have exceptional time-management skills
• Must have a positive, proactive attitude and be driven to optimize results for clients and partners
• Strong connections with potential external media partners is highly preferred
• Positioned is based in Los Angeles, Missoula (MT) or New York
