Job Summary
This position will lead a functional group to manage a wide array of legal responsibilities related to the development, production and distribution of television content for Paramount Television. The successful candidate will supervise and lead a group of production lawyers, paralegals and other executives who will handle all television legal matters.
Responsibilities
to include, but not limited to:
• Works closely with Business Affairs, Creative, Production and Finance in providing legal advice and counsel to senior management on television matters
• In collaboration with attorneys, sets the direction, develops and negotiates the largest and most complex TV arrangements
• Provides highest level of operational oversight for all legal aspects of television development, production and distribution, including the drafting and negotiating of rights, talent and licensing agreements, overall term producer agreements, contract administration, chain or title and rights reviews, clearance, trademark and copyright matters.
• Establish and maintain policies and practices for the department; create and maintain appropriate legal templates and definitions
• Provides legal advice during development and production to in-house groups and outside production personnel
• Proposes and implements new policies with respect to the structure of deals and contractual language for agreements
• Collaborate with legal colleagues across other divisions and departments
Basic Qualifications
Basic qualifications:
*Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctorate from accredited University / Law School
*Minimum 15-20 years relevant experience at a major law firm or television studio
*Must have experience (transactional and litigation) handling television development and production matters
*Current admission in California Bar
