Full Time Job
Viacom Media Networks is looking for an experienced designer to work on critical projects related to broadcast television distribution. The designer will partner with users, product owners, scrum teams, engineers and testers to conceptualize, design, prototype, test, and iterate new products and workflows until they meet our high quality standards. They will work closely with both domestic and international operations teams throughout the process, proactively gathering information and feedback to make sure that features for new or existing products are meeting their needs and addressing any existing issues.
We are looking for a combination of proven talent for solving problems and making workflows more efficient through design. Specifically, for this position we look for a candidate that can transform complex channel operations into simplified tools that will be used across the enterprise. The designer should be comfortable engaging directly with users to elicit feedback and knows how to work in a team environment. It’s important to showcase UX solutions with a solid visual interface execution.
The role reports to the Director of Broadcast Systems Development, and will assist with all efforts that are part of the day-to-day operations of the team.
Responsibilities:
• Turn concepts/ideas into deliverable products
• Understand and re-conceptualize complex workflows
• Synthesize wide range of user needs into common solutions
• Solicit feedback from product owners and users throughout the conceptualization and wire-framing process.
• Present ideas through wireframes and provide final designs for review and feedback
• Design and specify workflows and information architecture using participatory and iterative design techniques including, but not limited to, prototyping and usability testing
• Deliver final user interface designs, style guides, icons, animations, and other web components to the larger engineering team
• Contribute to the design process, drive decisions, track issues, and assist in estimating resource needs and schedules
• Lead design visions across the entire product lifecycle and multiple product launches
• Set the vision for the user experience and create the space and means for others to collaborate in the design process
• Work across multiple teams, partnering with engineering, product, and the business, turning complex ideas and workflows into elegant solutions
• Deliver final designs to engineering and collaborate with the team throughout the entire product development process
• Design and specify workflows and information architecture using participatory and iterative design techniques including prototyping and usability testing
• Take ownership of the product and responsibility for every detail, every step of the way
• Participate in the Agile development process
Basic Qualifications
• 5 years of design experience
• Outstanding designer with a strong portfolio of web (responsive) design and a proven track record of product delivery
• Great communicator; ability to clearly articulate your design decisions
• Excellent conceptual thinker
• Ability to understand and translate the needs, motivations and behaviors of many different user personas
• Foster a collaborative, problem solving environment
• Passionate about all aspects of user experience
• Proactive, a self-starter who brings original ideas and fresh approaches to each project you're working on
• Hold the highest craft principles and have the ability to inspire the team around you
• Bachelors degree preferred
