The Short Form Production Group:
The Short Form Production Group (SFP) is a nimble team focused on the production management and close support to Brand Creative groups across VMN. Content created includes; Promos, Image Campaigns, Still Photography (key art, gallery, press), Integrated Marketing, Show Opens, Social, Digital, and/or any marketing project or initiative requiring logistical support and problem-solving expertise.
The Role:
The Production Designer will be responsible for the overall look of shot content produced through the Short Form Production Group. This is a key creative role working directly with Writers, Producers, Director of Photography’s and Directors. The candidate will be self-starter, motivated, quick thinking, flexible and thorough. This is a demanding
and fast paced environment requiring proactive and positive thinking and must exercise good judgment, show initiative and be a team player. He/she must be able to juggle multiple responsibilities and projects with a laser focus on organization and attention to detail while being flexible and capable of prioritizing shifting priorities and deadlines.
Must possess ability to anticipate production and non-production challenges and be able to bring awareness to stakeholders as necessary. Must keep an eye on the bottom line and seek efficiencies, implement cost savings measures. Use internal resources to the maximum benefit of any and all projects including using human and other resources. Be a continuous champion and promoter of creative 1st.
Responsibilities:
• Seek out and vet freelance Production Designers/Art Directors
• Oversee the design the fabrication of sets and props
• Partner, support and collaborate with Brand Creative group and support them with any Art direction needs
• Be a part of the creative process and vision
• Propose and submit renderings, mood boards, and show examples of materials to be used
• Responsible for project art department budgets
• Have an working knowledge of basic production financial processes, including corporate cards, checks, p-cards, and petty cash
• Ensure that freelancers follow Viacom policy, guidelines and procedures
• Ensure safe working conditions and work closely with VMN Sr. Director of Viacom Safety
• Archiving set and art direction materials, photos of sets, videos, etc..
• Maintain internal prop and art storage units in LA and NYC
• Create, implement and drive highly effective art production plans for physical production, motion and still
• Collaborate and work closely with creative producers, project managers, writers, directors, and executives
• Provide input, feedback in all phases of production to ensure that the creative vision can be delivered and produced successfully while meeting operational, financial targets and desired production value
• Hire, negotiate and clearly define rates and working conditions to freelance art department personnel
• Negotiate favorable deals and discounts with vendors
• Limit liability exposure to company
• Communicate effectively to disseminate information to internal and external stakeholders
• Research, curate, and develop relationships with vendors, while continually analyzing cost efficiencies
• Fulfill other duties and tasks as requested
Basic Qualifications
• BA/BS Degree preferred
• Ability to work in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment
• 10 years experience as Production Designer/Art Director
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Solid understanding of standard operating procedures and internal processes
• Proficiency with MS Office, OneDrive, Google Applications, Showbiz Budgeting, ShowMgr, SAP, Concur

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Professional, self-motivated, results-oriented with a “can do” “roll up sleeves” attitude
• Must be able to travel, mainly domestically, some international possible
• Ability to keep confidential information
• Inquisitive and willingness to continue learning
