Channel 5 under Viacom’s ownership is on one of the most exciting journeys in the UK media landscape. With a rapidly evolving and unique programming slate, growth in ratings and increased investment in original content, industry recognition and multiple award nominations, the UK’s third largest commercial broadcaster is fast building reputation and winning over new viewers.
We are looking for a dynamic Picture and Content Executive with a strong knowledge of the TV landscape, visual flair, and a motivation to flourish in a small team. This job will reside within the newly formed communications Hub, with a core focus on Channel 5 and will play a key role as the channel continues to evolve its programming and reputation for quality content.
To be successful in this role, you must be able to manage your own time well across multiple projects at once. • Select images to be approved for press usage, liaising with commissioners to ensure tall images are in line with the editorial policy for the show and flagging any potential legal issues.
• Working closely with the press team to ensure all image and content needs for creative stunts, premieres and events are met and on brand, before distributing to press (this will include some commissioning)
• Select and prepare all images for the weekly Programme Information Press booklet
• Ensuring all images are tagged and archived correctly on digital systems
• Managing the Channel 5 group’s online library
• Working closely with the team on programme strategy, ensuring all images are available and readily accessible internally when needed
• Build relationships with digital outlets identifying picture and content opportunities which will help extend reach
• Supporting the team on accessing and distributing content clips for media
Preferred skills and qualities
• Experience of working within the creative industry
• Strong team player who loves collaborating
• Strong time management skills
• Knowledge and experience of dealing with media picture desks
• Proactive with an eye for opening new creative opportunities
• Interest in an evolving media landscape
• Strong eye for editing and selecting visual assets
• Impeccable literacy skills and attention to detail especially when working under pressure
Individual Characteristics
• Always going the extra mile – to surprise and delight - to deliver brilliant work even if that means going above and beyond
• Will never walk past a quality issue, even if a shortcut or avoidance is easier
• Self-motivated example setter, the first to put their hand in the air to support on the less exciting projects
• Reliable and trustworthy and expects the same behaviours from their teammates
• Open and transparent; shares information as they get it
• Keeps it simple and believes actions speak louder than words
• Believes in the power of PR to do good
• Calm under pressure; solution-focused and never defensive
• A positive influence; never complaining or feeling hard-done by; scrappy in the heat of battle
• Great influencer: strong written, verbal analytical and presentation skills
• Detail-loving team player who can flex; works well under pressure in a fast-moving environment
