Overview and Responsibilities
Job Description:
The Research & Analytics Manager will be responsible for audience analysis of media consumption for Viacom television networks and competition at the corporate level. The ideal candidate will have a deep interest in entertainment, television, and the media business.
Job Responsibilities:
• Strategic thinking and execution of top line concepts relating to the evolving media landscape
• Collaboration with team members and other groups within the organization to address and inform important questions relating to Viacom and competitive TV landscape performance metrics
• Utilize multiple software programs to collect, process, and visualize data involving various media metrics; software tools include products associated with Nielsen, ComScore, and Tableau
• Work independently and with direction from the Sr. Director and Vice President to identify and communicate key audience trends to Executive Management, which are needed for – but not limited to – the preparation of frequent ratings inquiries, quarterly earnings calls, and periodic board meetings
• Develop and maintain/automate relevant TV audience reports which display insights in an efficient and meaningful way for internal stakeholders
Basic Qualifications
The candidate will be proficient in research methods, with a passion for television, and a willingness to learn and work with others.
• Keen understanding of the role that research (linear/multi-platform) has when measuring content consumption
• Media math proficiency with the ability to apply to daily requests, deep dives, and analyses
• Familiarity with large data sets, using a solutions-oriented approach when maintaining them
• Computer fluency with strong Microsoft Office skills is essential (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); Tableau knowledge a plus
• Expertise in computer systems and websites used by the department such as:
Nielsen TV Toolbox, Star Media, Lake 5 Media, and TechEdge
• Highly organized and extremely detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure, set priorities, handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
• Proactive self-starter who takes initiative, and can work well both independently and with others
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, with excellent writing skills
• Bachelor Degree or higher
Additional Qualifications
• 5 years of experience with Nielsen audience analytics
• Interest in learning – or existing knowledge of – additional analytical software/platforms (examples include Tableau, SQL, Python)
