JOB SUMMARY
MTV UK Programming is a channel management team; responsible for programming, scheduling, VOD and EPG for 17 linear channels, and various nonlinear platforms. The successful candidate will:
• Provide general support for the Programming team who are responsible for the production of schedules, music playlists and music logs
• Gain an overview across all roles in the programming team, and assist in channel related requests across the full network of channels inclusive of MTV, Music, Vh1 and BET
• Learn and develop knowledge of programming and scheduling principles and best practice
• Develop knowledge of key software (e.g Music Master, What’s On) in order to provide cover for both entertainment and music channels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Music:
• Producing Playlist Meeting prep & co-ordination
• Maintaining accurate notes during playlist meeting
• Publishing of playlist document(s) post meeting
• Supporting the Music Programming team in production of music logs – delivering daily schedules for one of the smaller music channels to specified deadlines
• Assisting in maintenance of the UK Music Master Enterprise database, and taking care of all relevant housekeeping and metadata
• Assisting MP team with edits/re-compliance of music assets
• Working on music research as requested
• Contributing & assisting the team in generating imaginative and compelling themed & contextualised music programming (Music Commissioning Slate, Stunts, Music countdowns etc) that add value to the wider network of channel(s) being programmed
• Working with TAM to obtain information needed by the wider team with regard to comprehensive forward plan of new music, release dates, and album launches, tour & promo dates etc.
• Learning to understand & interpret a breadth of research including BARB & radio airplay data from both radio and television
• Be proactive in highlighting emerging and changing music trends
• Sustain a genuine passion for music, attending gigs and festivals to keep up with new artists
• Cover colleagues’ logs and channels during holidays and absences
Entertainment:
• Awareness of programming across our channels and knowledge of our content stocklists
• Viewing and providing editorial feedback on all programming under consideration from both IPC and external distributors
• Researching current trends for future programming possibilities and forward planning
• Assisting with EPG creation, and covering EPG delivery when required
• Working on entertainment competitor research as requested
• Providing general assistance to Channel Managers
Music/ Entertainment:
• Attending key Programme meetings and Research meetings
• Working with the team to keep abreast of the direction and strategy of the channels
• Ensuring they are reactive to trends & patterns on our Network & within the wider marketplace
• Providing administrative support across department
• Assisting with What’s On entry and schedule changes across both the Music and Entertainment channels when necessary
• Contributing to brainstorms

Skills & Experience:
• Broad knowledge of both music & entertainment content as related to MTV’s core audience
• Passionate about music and its diverse audiences
• Well versed in emerging and changing music & entertainment trends
• An awareness of the importance of Ofcom rules and their relation to music and entertainment content
• Knowledge of music programming software and an understanding of music research an advantage
• Informed understanding of the changing media landscape, as well as the impact of emerging technology and new platforms
• Strong organizational and time management competencies
• Impeccable diplomatic approach and team oriented work ethic
