Full Time Job
Manage a very large trademark/copyright portfolio for Paramount/Viacom Media Networks.
Conduct domestic and international trademark clearances by analyzing trademark reports and other means to determine the availability of proposed trademarks for use as titles for television series and motion pictures and on consumer products; arrange for the filing of trademark applications for cleared trademarks in territories around the world. Record and register various documents with US/Canadian copyright offices. Postion will be located in Hollywood on the Paramount Studio lot and at the Viacom location.

• Under the supervision of Vice-President, Intellectual Property, conduct trademark clearances through online databases and other customary means in collaboration with a trademark attorney, present recommendations/advice to business groups;
• Manage the filing and prosecution of domestic and international trademark applications; correspond with outside counsel on trademark objections/oppositions/rejections;
• Manage maintenance of international trademark registrations including assuring renewals are obtained as appropriate;
• Oversee and manage international trademark oppositions and infringement actions;
• Monitor international and domestic trademark watch notices and work with trademark attorney to file opposition as appropriate;
• Prepare and manage applications to record marks with different Customs agencies around the world;
• Draft settlement agreements in collaboration with trademark attorney;
• Review of marketing/promotional materials for proper use of IP;
• Record and Register various documents with the US/Canadian copyright offices.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 6 to 10 years of experience in comprehensive international trademark portfolio management, including extensive work with managing outside counsel;
• Management of a large trademark portfolio (15,000 or more) preferred;
• Knowledge of relevant domestic and international trademark laws.
• Strong background in both domestic and international trademark clearance and prosecution matters;
• Ability to analyze issues related to Intellectual Property law and clearly and succinctly render opinions both verbally and in writing;
