Viacom Global Consumer Insights is responsible for developing a deep understanding of Viacom audiences around the world, then disseminating those findings within the company and beyond. Through multi-country research and insights initiatives, we support all Viacom corporate teams. We collaborate with consumer insights teams in the US and abroad to champion regional findings and coordinate global results, contributing to Viacom’s vast audience expertise.
The Viacom Global Consumer Insights Team is seeking an enthusiastic Director, Global Consumer Insights to lead certain consumer insights projects and support others on behalf of Viacom’s suite of brands including Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, Paramount Network, BET, VidCon. The Director will primarily be responsible for research and insights in the area of on-the-ground brand extensions and events like festivals, fan conventions and other activations and experiences.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Insights professional with a deep knowledge of, and passion for turning insights into action and a proven track record of influencing business decisions in fan/attendee/guest insights. The position requires excellent research skills and superior attention to detail as well as the ability to see patterns and connect insights among consumers. A passion for the entertainment industry is a must. Specific responsibilities include:
• Directly manage delegated qualitative and quantitative consumer insights initiatives including commission, design and leadership of projects across primary and secondary efforts with a view to provide consumer-based guidance informing business decisions
• Specific responsibility for attendance and attendee/guest research initiatives at various on-the-ground events like fan conventions (VidCon), festivals and other on-the-ground activations and experiences, as well as broader insights initiatives with the aim to provide strategic guidance to such events
• Work with the SVP to design, field, coordinate, analyze and disseminate research projects based on traditional qualitative and quantitative methodologies as well as collecting and analyzing registration information and location data within the event
• Build and maintain relationships with various internal teams responsible for marketing and production of on-the-ground events to deliver event based insights, including targeting, event content, deep fan analysis
• Work as part of the wider Global Consumer Insights team and the wider Viacom insights community to support the overall business as the expertise center for on-the-ground events through best practice and thought leadership; where required, act as collaborative project lead or participant for primary projects when called upon
• Create insights presentations using both primary and secondary data sources that tell compelling, strategic stories about consumer behavior
• Serve as a valuable resource for consumer trends, attitudes and media behaviors in the relevant entertainment space.
• Execute on delegated RFP processes and administrative tasks for primary research projects including Purchase Orders, Finance and Legal
• Work closely with brand and international consumer insights teams to leverage developments, systems and processes where possible as well as roll out information/projects
Basic Qualifications
• 6 years of experience in consumer insights, preferably in the media space
• Experience in entertainment event research and insights
• Must be fluent in MS Office; possess expertise with PowerPoint, Excel

• Must work well under pressure and be able to meet multiple deadlines simultaneously
• High attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to manage and work both independently and as part of a team
