Comedy Central is seeking a Director for the Digital Creators’ Room Program, within Viacom Digital Studios. The successful incumbent will manage the team of writers, and be responsible for keeping the team staffed and organized, as well as maintain relationships with the program and Comedy Central Digital Studio (CCDS). Additionally, s/he will work closely with the Digital Supervising Producer and production management on all projects produced by the writers.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable working collaboratively within a large, multi-layered organization. S/he will work closely with many groups within the department and elsewhere within Comedy Central. The ability to develop relationships and communicate effectively with Comedy Central’s Development, Brand Creative, Video Production, Programming, Marketing, and Social teams is essential.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
• Serving as the primary point of contact for the creators’ room to other departments within the Viacom Digital Studio (VDS) in terms of staffing, office logistics and the overall program
• Leading the revolving hiring process from start to finish by creating and reviewing submission packets, vetting candidates and material, interviewing and contract negotiations
• Maintaining a large roster of candidates recommend new talent as necessary
• Coordinating any office logistics by working closely with HR and Viacom IT
• Initiating all program processes
• Developing standardized scheduling, workflow and internal communication procedures
• Building and managing relationships with the development team as it pertains to all digital original content produced within the VDS
• Working with Associate Producers, Coordinators, and Director to keep open lines of communication regarding content changes and deliverables for daily and weekly series
• Ensuring timely delivery of originals on spec
• Partnering with Video Production and Brand Creative to ensure best processes are in place and educate team members both junior and senior
• Managing budgets as they pertain digital projects
• Contributing to establishing strategies through all project executions
• Understanding research and analytics as they pertain to changing strategies on digital platforms
• Managing positive working relationships with key talent
Basic Qualifications
• 6 years of experience working within a digital and/or video production environment for a major network brand or agency
Additional Qualifications
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
• Experience managing teams, mentoring and hiring
• Experience working with comedy writers and creatives; including reviewing materials
• Experience with logistics and operations in an organization
• Experience working with video production and post teams
• Understanding of the digital, social and emerging platforms space
