Full Time Job
The Designer will design small to large complex projects, which include but not limited to: cocktail parties, off channel performances, presentations including channel upfronts, high-level client events, sponsor driven events like the VMA and Kid’s Choice post party. Most projects will contain high tech, theatrical and set dressing elements. Additionally, the staff Designer will source and supervise freelance designers and freelance assistants as needed.
The functionality of Special Events is a service department for Viacom networks: MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, CMT, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network and TV Land.
The Designer is responsible for entire artistic vision, style, look and layout of project including: scenery, stage, props, table decor, effects, activities, bars and buffets. Works directly with entire production team to develop a design that meets client’s goals within budget restrictions.
Works closely with other design areas on video, lighting, and signage. Creates excitement about the brand, and enhances brand identity.
The job requires the ability to design medium to large complex projects. The ideal candidate will personally create the design sketches and presentation materials for projects with creative ways to integrate brand. Communicates well with producer, and entire production team. Must have good presentation skills. High-level presentations to network executives may be necessary. The ability to manage budget, time, people and client expectations are also important. Exhibits unique creative approach to each project. Must work well under pressure and be comfortable making quick and creative decisions, in the office and on site.
Exceptional development and proficiency in the following areas as they relate to set/event design: Drawing, drafting, rendering, 3D drafting capabilities or ability to create an accurate presentation quickly and edit them in a timely fashion.
Basic Qualifications
• 5 years’ experience in set/event design
Additional Qualifications
• A working knowledge of television or theatrical background preferred.
• Proficient in the following programs:
• 2D/3D CAD
• Vector Graphics Software
• Renderworks/Cinema 4D
• Adobe Creative Suites, most specially Photoshop and Illustrator programs.
