The Advertising Science team sits within the larger Advanced Advertising organization at Viacom, supporting the entire Ad Sales organization across the Global Entertainment Group and Kids and Family clusters.
At the core, we are a data-driven solutions team that leverages data science to create strategic efficiencies and empower our ad sales teams with innovative offerings. We are passionate about developing data products that not only get utilized across the company, but also get talked about in the press for innovation.
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our ambitious, multidisciplinary team to help architect, build, and maintain our cloud-based data infrastructure and ultimately accelerate our development and deployment of data products. S/He will be responsible for supporting product development for key ad sales research solutions and initiatives, and in addition to the team’s Product Managers, will also support the data needs of three Sr. Data Scientists.
• Build distributed, high-volume data pipelines to power new product features based on analytics and machine-learning
• Build applications that are AWS-ready
• Identify and solve data pipeline issues as they arise
• Serve as point between Advertising Science and MTS (IT/Cloud-Engineering department) in support of our data products
• Develop, test, and maintain data architectures to ensure data availability
• Work closely with external product vendors to set up back-ends of Advertising Science products
Basic Qualifications
• BS/MS/PhD in a STEM field
• Experience building data pipelines from scratch and architected solutions for data science and analytics
• Fluent in scalable cloud computing technologies (AWS, Google Cloud Compute, Azure).
• Understanding, fluency, and application of modern distributed data processing technology stacks (i.e. Spark, Presto, and others.)
• Deep understanding of relational database technologies and database development techniques
Additional Qualifications
• Experience working in a version-controlled (Git) development environment is strongly preferred
• Familiarity with media data sets (Nielsen, comScore, Adobe Analytics, social platforms, etc.) a plus.
• Knowledgeable about data lake and data warehousing techniques, architecture, and design
• Strong communication skills – both written and verbal with ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Overly strong attention to detail, code simplicity and performance
