Viacom Media Networks is seeking a Coordinator for the Communications team responsible for the Comedy Central, Paramount Network and TV Land brands. The position is based in Viacom’s Hollywood offices and reports to the Senior Director of Communications, West Coast. This position also is responsible for providing overall support to the greater Communications team. Candidates should have a passion for communications.
• Creates and executes every aspect of publicity campaign for original series
• Pitches stories to press, while building strong relationships with national, local, print, broadcast and online media
• Maintains and updates press lists
• Creates and distributes press releases and other press materials
• Generates press coverage reports
• Helps build and maintain brand press sites
• Stays informed about industry news and flag issues and trends for the team in a timely manner
Basic Qualifications
• College degree
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and be highly organized and detail oriented.
• 2 years of professional experience in public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field, in-house experience, a plus
• Must work well under pressure while implementing strategies and meeting deadlines
• Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends for screenings, events, conferences, press junkets, etc.
Additional Qualifications
• Ability to implement comprehensive publicity campaigns for content across multiple platforms including scripted, unscripted, short form, long form, and live/taped tent pole events
• Experience planning and executing press tour appearances as well as set visits, screenings, press junkets, etc.
• Strong writing skills to prepare press releases, media alerts, statements, synopses, talent biographies, pitch letters, tip sheets and itineraries
• Tech-savvy with a demonstrable understanding of the television, media, digital, mobile, social landscape
