WHO YOU ARE
We are looking for an individual who can develop ambitious, innovative, creative and effective social campaigns that drive impacts and share, brand affinity and attribution and channel commercial success.
You must be a people person with the ability to work well with other departments across Marketing, Creative, Production, Media Planning as well as the commissioners of the shows.
You must be self-motivated, possess integrity and be able to work autonomously.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Our Content Editors are focussed on the Channel 5 social media portfolio initially, but with potential to work across the other VIMN brands in the longer term.
The Content Editor will be responsible for uploading, scheduling, sourcing and managing content across Channel 5’s websites and social media. Your role will involve content creation, subbing, page layout and managing and maximising external editorial relationships. The role will also be required to work with our moderation partner and respond to moderation issues as they arise.
The objective of this role is to create and manage high-quality, compelling content, optimised by platform, across Channel 5’s websites, with the aim of driving as many users, traffic and video views as possible, and growing and engaging our audiences online.
You will collaborate with the wider Marketing and Creative teams to create and conceive of content that supports key marketing campaigns and ongoing community building activity that drives meaningful social interactions with our audience.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Editorial production across Channel 5’s network of sites, including subbing and writing copy; producing and coordinating metadata; scheduling and uploading content (written, image and short-form video); and playing an active role in promoting shows and driving user discovery across the site
• Management of third-party suppliers including content providers, production companies and picture agencies, to ensure smooth content delivery and support of the Channel 5 brand
• Working cross-departmentally on traffic-driving initiatives to enrich user experience and create buzz around shows, including but not limited to managing digital support for competitions and viewer polls, and securing access to talent for filmed content and social media activity
• Using analytical tools to report on site content, including homepage and newsletters, on a daily/weekly basis where appropriate
• Help to shape the editorial processes, style guides and tone of voice across the site and content verticals
• Champion best practice web pages to increase user traffic and video views and ensure optimum user journeys
• Work with Channel 5’s commercial teams to maximise revenues, particularly focusing on advertorial opportunities
• Work with Channel 5’s moderation partners on their moderation of user commenting
EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
• A passion for the VIMN family of brands, with expert knowledge of our target audiences and production of socially optimised content
• Demonstrable experience in multiplatform content production and editing, preferably within an entertainment / media environment
• Sound editorial judgment with strong copywriting and storytelling skills, and an in-depth understanding of compliance, PR and copyright issues
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others, internally and externally, and the ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively with key stakeholders
• Excellent time management and project management skills
• An ability to keep calm under pressure and deliver work at a consistently high standard
• A proactive, flexible and innovative approach, using initiative and creativity to produce relevant content and deliver optimal performance
• Experienced in using a Content Management System
• Experienced in web analytics
• Excellent understanding of best practice online user experience principles with some experience in creating user flows
• First class copywriting/grammatical skills and excellent written/oral communication
o Proven ability to produce sparkling copy and attention-grabbing headlines designed to create a compelling and addictive experience for all Channel 5’s online users
NICE TO HAVES
• A background in in media, design, film production or a related field is desirable, but not essential
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects, and an understanding of video formats and codecs
• Experience of shooting bespoke content for social media campaigns
• Experienced interviewer, with strong research skills and the confidence to get the best out of talent – actors, presenters and experts
