WHO YOU ARE
Channel 5’s Content Legal department currently has a vacancy for an additional advisor to work on Channel 5’s commissioned content.
Ideally you will be a lawyer or senior broadcast content advisor with a considerable amount of experience of legal/regulatory compliance issues as they relate to broadcast programmes.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Advising on Channel 5’s commissioned content, working with producers and commissioning editors throughout the commissioning and production process on regulatory compliance, in particular in relation to Ofcom Broadcasting Code matters, as well as (subject to training which will be provided, and existing knowledge) recognising legal issues and matters as and when they arise.
YOU WILL HAVE
Successful candidate will ideally have a direct established understanding and knowledge of the issues and challenges of producing and broadcasting compliant programmes, liaising with different departments and key stakeholders within production companies and broadcasters. Given that the candidate does not necessarily need to be legally qualified, training in all relevant areas of legal practice will be given over time. Accordingly a willingness to learn quickly and to apply new learnings to a real practical scenario, in an intelligent manner, is a must.
YOU WILL BE
A good listener, willing to take on all details and ask the right questions, before applying in a practical and analytical way. Attention to detail is an absolute requirement, as well as a confidence in handling strict deadlines and with providing a service to key stakeholders around the business.
Communication will be very important as well as having very good judgement, and an ability to recognise when an issue is appropriate for escalating to a team member.
NICE TO HAVES
An approachable, professional persona and ability to collaborate easily in a friendly and lively environment.
