Analyst, Production Finance - Viacom Media Networks
The Production Finance Pre-Post Analyst supports the Viacom Media Networks Production Finance Team by providing day-to-day support for productions or brands that they are currently assigned to. This position interacts with all of the productions daily and various internal departments.
General Responsibilities:
• You will handle production accounting functions prior to the start of the production accounting staff, initial project set up for productions depending on production accounting system, addressing production payment related matters through SAP/Market, PSL and Vista/Smart Accounting.
• You will prepare the initial payroll for both union and non-union show-related population and freelance payroll.
• You will provide hands-on support to business users for SAP GUI and SAP Market applications, including needs regarding VMN PCards, Travel & Expenses policy/reconciliation help, and accounts payable assistance.
• You are required to fundamentally understand all aspects of production, from the development stage through to the post-production and delivery stage.
Responsibilities:
• You will facilitate business requests for internal WBS project code creation once project has been approved through the greenlight process.
• You will supply initial production accounting set-up of production, including banking, p-card, and payroll services.
• You are responsible for being main point of contact with Payroll Company for initial set up of payroll and projects with designated Payroll Company. This position is responsible for assisting with any and all issues that would include, but not limited to: process, paperwork, errors, etc.
• Assist in preparation of cash flow schedules and creation of POs and processing of payments in SAP for 3rd party productions.
• Process early accounts payable and payroll so there is a thoughtful transition to the production accountant once engaged on production.
Post-production Accounting
• Cost reporting and estimating final costs once show has returned in house until delivery of project is complete in order to close out projects.
• Process and reconcile payroll, accounts payable, purchase orders, PCards, journal entries and petty cash throughout the post period.
• Process show funding and talent payments in accordance with deals and schedules.
• Update production cash forecasts as needed.
• Review, research, and respond to all production cost, tax credit, guild and pension plan audits.
• Assist with preparation of required material for Residuals department.
• Support monthly/quarterly accounting close, including preparation of accruals, journal entries, general ledger account analysis/reconciliations and research as needed to ensure all costs are reconciled to SAP and accounted for at the show level.
• Point person for business teams to investigate and resolve inquiries from teams needing assistance with corporate and PCards, T&E, and AP-related matters such as questions about POs, Confirmations, etc.
• Adhere to company financial policies and procedures and keep the production teams informed of policy changes as necessary.
Basic Qualifications
• Previous experience in production accounting and/or corporate accounting/finance
• Working knowledge/experience with production accounting software (PSL, Global Vista)
• Knowledge of the entertainment industry and TV production.
• Highly proficient in Excel, Word, and Powerpoint skills

• Bachelor’s degree
• Proficient in accounting for episodic TV shows
• Efficiency, speed, accuracy, dedicated approach to job, and strong social skills
• Appreciates/pays attention to detail but possesses the ability to see the bigger picture and understands the relevance
• Works well under pressure and completes (both individual and joint) projects on a timely basis.
• Adhere to confidential nature of highly sensitive material
• Excellent leadership, teamwork, critical thinking and communication skills
• Ability to forge partnerships with producers, production managers and studio executives
• Experience with SAP and Longview Solutions a plus
• A willingness to work as part of a team and cover other roles as necessary
• Ability to solve problems/be inquisitive, organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Ability to be improvement oriented and have an innovative perspective
