Affiliate Revenue Accounting Group is responsible for the accurate reporting and overall revenue accounting process of over $4 Billion in annual revenue to Viacom. The department negotiates distribution agreements and maximizes revenue and marketing opportunities from traditional (Comcast, DirecTV, COX, etc.), MVPDs (SLING, DTV NOW, etc) digital (Amazon, Hulu, etc.) and new media distribution channels while ensuring that fans can discover and engage with Viacom Media Networks content on every available device and platform.
Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager, Affiliate Revenue will support the Affiliate group as the very critical point of contact for monthly subscribers, license fees and receivables for a high volume of affiliate accounts. Responsible for account management from a 360 degree angle – from managing the monthly Bad Debt package and Bad Debt reserves, reconciling all Affiliate Account Receivable ledgers, overseeing withholding taxes, pacing and reconciliation processes that relate to Content Distribution. This also includes identifying & trouble-shooting discrepancies while also managing related receivables.
Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Senior Director, Ad & Affiliate Revenue Controller
Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Monthly Close Process
• Support monthly/ quarterly close processes through accurate pacing updates, G/L & SLINK journal entries review, variance analysis, standard reporting packages and balance sheet account reconciliations
• Review and validate the monthly MSO Control log reconciliation and MSO Analysis
• Manage DBD MG deals & distribution expenses
• Responsible for completing monthly Bad Debt Package / AR reconciliation
• Identify/investigate any balances over 90 days past due and report to Management
• Prepare month end A/R tracking & summary schedule for accounts
• Responsible for compilation, analysis and presentation of Content Distribution related receivables
• Support evaluation of business risks and potential bad debt and perform write-offs if/when necessary
• Perform financial and variance analysis
• Prepare various tax analyses and summaries
• Withholding tax receipt collections for affiliates located in Canada, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean
• Withholding tax write-offs at year end and/or on an as-need-basis in collaboration with VMN Controller’s group and Shared Services
• Perform financial and variance analysis and presents to revenue controller
• Responsible for completing or assisting with special projects received from senior team
• Serve as point of contact for finance compliance and internal/external audit requests
• Assist in reporting improvements for other key business units as deemed necessary by management
• Performs/coordinate quarterly SOX review including update of SOX narrative and all related documents
• Liaison with the Affiliate group related to reconciling/reporting of receivables, withholding tax and cash
• Ensure proper accounting controls and procedures are in place, focusing on compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act
• Ad hoc reports as necessary to support the group
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required, Accounting or Finance preferred
• Minimum 5 years of relevant financial experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Additional Qualifications
• Experience with SAP or similar system is valued
• Continuous improvement mindset
• Media industry knowledge is a plus, but not required
