Variety Business Intelligence (VBI): Manager of Business Development
Are you passionate about entertainment and want to learn about business development? Variety Business Intelligence is looking for a dynamic Manager of Business Development. Previous sales experience isn't required, but the ideal applicant will have prior work experience at a talent & literary agency, network, studio or production company with exposure to development and/or production. Our training program teaches sales skills that allow you to share our products' benefits with clients while utilizing your prior experience. We are one of the fastest growing divisions at Variety Media and this position offers significant opportunities for advancement as well as a great virtual and in person company culture.
During the Covid-19 health pandemic we operate our business remotely. All on boarding, training and meetings are held virtually. PMC, Variety Business Intelligence's parent company, will open our offices in September 2020, but will not require employees to come to the office until January 2021.

Job Description:
The VBI Manager of Business Development is responsible for setting his or her own meetings, presenting and closing deals. All sales people are trained on Salesforce, the division's CRM system. The Manager of Business Development will have the opportunity to generate leads by travelling to various industry trade shows and events where the company exhibits its research & data services. A strong interest and understanding of the entertainment business is a must. The position requires someone who is comfortable with in office and web-based product presentations, as well as setting meetings and generating leads. Also, the Manager of Business Development will serve as an account representative for existing clients for the purposes of client service and account renewal. The Manager will work closely with the President of the division and the rest of the sales team to help develop and execute sales and marketing strategy. This role will be selling licenses to new and existing customers to access industry research and data tools. In addition, this position will be trained to sell data licensing into leading entertainment data platforms and systems. Compensation is a base salary plus commissions on new and renewal business.
Job Requirements:
Excellent communication skills, whether in person, email or phone. Superior written and verbal skills are a necessity.
Ability to create and maintain relationships at networks, studios, production companies and agencies with a focus on development and production.
The ideal candidate must be able to manage his or her own tasks and deadlines and have excellent organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
High comfort level working with clients in various areas of the entertainment industry and passion for film, TV and digital content.
Strong technical aptitude and working knowledge of internet and SaaS applications, particularly MS Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of Salesforce and ClearSlide a plus.
A long term interest in marketing and sales is encouraged but not required.
Prior acting experience is a plus!
