The Financial Reporting Manager is an integral part of the Valence Accounting team. Valence is a highly cross-functional organization, and the Financial Reporting Manager will work with colleagues across all functional areas and divisions, learning the business inside-and-out. This is an opportunity to be part of setting the foundation for the integrated Accounting function across the divisions, creating new consolidation procedures and a streamlined financial reporting process. A successful candidate has strong analytical skills, strong Generally Accepted Accounting Principles [GAAP] accounting knowledge, prioritizes and manages multiple tasks at once, has a strong desire to learn, and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
What You'll Do:
• Plan and execute the consolidation process in accordance with the quarterly close calendar/timeline to facilitate timely and accurate reporting.
• Prepare quarterly financial statements (including annual footnotes) for Valence and its divisions to support the audit of such entities.
• Research, evaluate and document technical accounting conclusions and reporting implications of complex and non-standard transactions, as well as general corporate accounting matters.
• Manage adherence to ASC 606, ASC 842, and all other applicable and new GAAP accounting guidance.
• Interface with Corporate Development, Business Affairs, Production, Production Finance, Creative, Sales, and Advertising groups to ensure GAAP is properly adhered to in the financial statements; identify and drive impactful process improvements. ''
Your Experience & Skills
• Minimum of 5 years of experience required; Big 4 public accounting and/or entertainment/publishing industry experience.
• Strong technical GAAP background and experience with financial statement preparation and consolidations.
• Bachelor's degree from a leading university in Accounting, with a strong GPA, and a CPA or MBA is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills, ability to create internal models and reports, including the ability to clearly summarize data.
• Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage evolving deadlines
• Strong work ethic, high sense of urgency, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment
