Description
As the Lighting Technician you will be responsible for working as part of the lighting team to install, maintain and operate lighting equipment and systems in a safe and consistent manner.
Responsibilities
• Run follow spot cue tracks as directed for performances, artist training and rehearsals.
• Maintain cue track documentation and participate in cue track rotation as directed.
• Inspect and maintain lighting equipment.
• Develops working drawings from set design for use by lighting personnel.
• Update maintenance and inspection records as directed.
• Develop a thorough knowledge of all lighting equipment specific to the production in order to operate equipment safely.
• Creates script with light cues for use by lighting technicians (board, and spot operators).
• Participate in special projects, including the installation of new lighting show elements.
• Attends regularly scheduled Production Team meetings as requested by the Stage Director or Production Manager, or technical director.
• Brings together, with Production Team members, all elements of the show as a coordinated, cohesive unit.
• Maintain a flexible schedule for work calls, special events, rehearsals, training and maintenance.
• Participate in all required safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training.
• Before tech rehearsal, supervises lighting check using all set pieces to see that they have adequate lighting.
• Supervises tech rehearsal and coordinates spotlights according to light plan
• Perform all other job-related duties as requested.
Qualifications:
• At least 2 years of educational background or working experience with a large-scale production show.
• Able to learn and retain multiple cue tracks.
• Working knowledge of production light design, stage lighting, spotlight equipment.
• general knowledge of rigging.
• Proficient in the programming and operation of the Hog 3 and 4 consoles
• At least 1-year experience with Media Servers
• Be able to troubleshoot Live
• Basic knowledge of Video
• Knowledge of signal flow in both Lighting and Video Systems
• 2 years minimum experience on stage lighting consoles
• Excellent communication skills with ability to handle emergency situations smoothly
• Ability to learn show cues
• Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, in both written and oral forms.
• OSHA 10 Certification required
• Able to lift up to 50lbs
Physical Qualifications
• Working environment is fast paced.
• Frequent stand/walk during delivery activities
• Frequent push/pulling using both hands/arms, to transport loaded hand truck up/down curbs and stairs
• Must be comfortable with maneuvering forward/backward, up/downstairs and/or ladders.
