JOB SUMMARY:
The People & Culture Generalist performs human resources related duties at the professional level and may carry out responsibilities in some or all the following functional areas: recruiting and onboarding, employee relations, training, legal compliance, recognition and retention, HR process and procedure. This role will be based out of Zions Bank Basketball Campus.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide daily, onsite HR support to the Utah Jazz, Salt Lake Bees, 1280 The Zone, Salt Lake City Stars and Jazz Gaming
• Responsible for posting open positions to UKG and external job boards, actively participate in the interview process, and communicate with hiring managers regarding new hire onboarding
• Initiate the onboarding process for selected candidates (send offer letters, enter background checks, complete form I9, etc.) and follow up as need to ensure a smooth process
• Schedule and conduct new hire orientations for Utah Jazz employees
• Proactively coordinate with managers regarding hiring needs and prepare for the ebb and flow of workforce needs throughout the year
• Develop relationships with local hiring organizations, colleges, workforce services, and other platforms and services
• Assist with day-to-day administrative HR tasks (scanning files, printing badges, scheduling meetings, etc.)
• Answer employee questions and communicate concerns and/or issues to the appropriate member of the team
• Ensure that P&C efforts continually work to create and support a culture of employee engagement, diversity, and inclusion
• Assist managers in creating accurate job descriptions for all positions
• Be a resource for employees and management regarding complex employee situations such as employee complaints, allegations of harassment or discrimination, or civil rights complaints
• Provide guidance and support to managers throughout the employee disciplinary process
• Ensure that accurate documentation is created and maintained, and appropriate processes are followed
• Assist in investigations and maintain complete and accurate records
• Provide coaching, counseling, and training to managers regarding company policy and federal/state guidelines and requirements (Title VII, FLMA, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, OSHA, etc.)
• Ensure that Workers Comp and OSHA processes are followed, and appropriate records are maintained
• Ensure that P&C efforts continually work to create and support a culture of employee engagement, diversity, and inclusion
• Work closely with the VP of P&C, Manager of P&C, and Arena P&C Generalist to develop new programs, processes, trainings, and organization HR best practices
• Build relationships with employees and managers and facilitate a culture in which the P&C team strategically supports the organization and is viewed as a business partner
• Provide cross-functional support to the Arena and Bees as needed
• Stay current on HR trends and employment law updates by attending seminars, reading professional publications, growing your network, and participation in professional associations

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
• 3 – 5 years of progressive HR experience, PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
• Proficiency in computer software applications such as Google Suite
• Knowledge UKG a plus
• Demonstrated knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
• Strong leadership and communication skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.
• This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess.
• This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time.
• This person must be able to lift 20 lbs.
