Full Time Job
USA Baseball is seeking a full-time Director of Development. The Director of Development will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This new position will develop and execute an alumni engagement plan for the nearly 2,500 players who have played on a USA Baseball national team and is responsible for securing financial support for USA Baseball's national team programs and other initiatives.
About You:
The ideal candidate is a creative self-starter who desires to constantly learn and grow professionally. He or she develops new strategies to positively impact people and support USA Baseball's mission. The Director of Development should be an excellent communicator, open to constructive criticism, detail-oriented, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Executive Director/CEO, COO and national team program directors to create a development plan to increase revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization
• Advise the organization on software and other information technology (IT) needs to maximize the development department's efficiencies
• Aggressively lead and direct the implementation of the organization's development plan from alumni, individuals and foundations with a focus on multi-year gifts of $25,000
• Key initiatives include increased identification and cultivation of individual donors, with a focus on major gift development
• Develop a USA Baseball alumni outreach strategy to foster long-term engagement with the organization
• Prepare regular progress reports, monitoring budgets, receipts and expenditures related to fundraising including reporting at Board of Directors meetings each year
• Develop and manage timelines for fundraising activities to ensure critical fundraising benchmarks are met in a timely fashion
• Cross-functionally collaborate with other departments including marketing, finance, baseball operations and sport development on key projects and reports throughout the year
• Coordinate the design, printing and distribution of marketing and communication materials for development efforts
• Establish and build relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and fundraising goals of the organization
Desired Skills & Experience:
• 5-7 years of fundraising experience with proven results
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint,
• Basic knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, among others
• Must have an excellent attitude and work well in a team setting
• Flexible and adaptable work schedule for changing organizational needs
• Willingness to travel to events throughout the U.S. and international competitions
• Mentor seasonal coordinators on working in sports and for a non-profit organization
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in fundraising for a NCAA Division I athletic department
• Passionate about baseball with an understanding of the amateur baseball landscape
• Ability to work in both a Mac and PC environment
• Proficiency in the budgeting process and profit and loss statements
Required Education:
A bachelor's degree is required.
Salary:
• Salary commensurate on experience
