Position Reports To: Emily Fedewa, Director of Media Relations
Position Background: USA Baseball is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Social Media to develop and implement USA Baseball's social media strategy through day-to-day social messaging and large-scale campaigns in support of the brand. This position should bring an inviting and inspiring voice to our many social media profiles to increase brand awareness and our online presence, introducing new and old fans alike to what USA Baseball is doing as the national governing body for baseball in the United States.
Reporting directly to the Director of Media Relations, the ideal candidate for this position will directly impact the creative strategy and vision for USA Baseball in the social landscape. They will be responsible for managing a host of keystone organizational social media accounts across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Twitter, as well as assisting fellow staff members in executing the overarching social strategy on additional secondary accounts.
Position Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the overall creative strategy and vision for USA Baseball by creating and guiding content on USA Baseball's official and auxiliary social media accounts
• Construct audience- and insight-driven digital campaigns to expand overall brand reach and engagement, as well as promote to organization's teams, programs, events, services, and merchandise
• Actively monitor and evaluate content performance on all platforms using Sprout Social, leveraging insights and trends, and providing data-supported recommendations to the Media Relations team
• Identify and engage with trending social media topics and movements to keep the organization at the forefront of the baseball landscape and within the brand-driven social community
• Encourage active participation within USA Baseball's social community by actively engaging with followers through direct communication via all platforms
• Lead exploration and expansion into new and emerging social media platforms on behalf of the organization
• Oversee seasonal interns to assist with the implementation of the USA Baseball social media strategy, who will join you as the on-site social media content creators for all USA Baseball events and national team programs at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina, or other domestic locations as assigned
• Communicate with all departments within the organization to ensure all needs are met
Preferred Qualifications:
• 3 years of relevant, practical experience in social media marketing, planning, and content creation–or similar job function–on behalf for an organization or event.
• Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills, and must work well in a team setting
• Ability to create, test, and evaluate content and understand what drives the engagement as a consumer of social media
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills to multi-task and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to execute multiple projects and campaigns while ensuring each one meets overarching brand goals and expectations
• Expertise in social media-required technical skills including platform management, analytics analysis, and capturing content using digital equipment
• Strong understanding of baseball, including both the professional and amateur baseball landscapes
• Candidates must be willing and able to work flexible, demanding hours
Required Education:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year university
About USA Baseball
USA Baseball is the National Governing Body for the sport of baseball in the United States and is a member of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and the World Baseball Softball Confederation. The organization selects and trains the Olympic, Pan Am, Premier 12 and World Baseball Classic teams (and all other USA Baseball Professional Teams); the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team; the USA Baseball 18U, 15U and 12U National Teams; and the USA Baseball Women's National Team, all of which participate in various international competitions each year.
The organization is responsible for the proliferation and health of the sport, and leads a number of amateur initiatives including PLAYBALL and Pitch Smart. USA Baseball also presents the Golden Spikes Award annually to the top amateur baseball player in the country.
