This opening is for a Production Cloud Technology Lead who will join the Creative Technologies team within Universal Pictures' Technology Office to work on the Production Cloud Technology Project. This is expected to be a 24-month assignment.
Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation have partnered with Microsoft to leverage Azure to cloud-enable our live action and animation production workflows. To ensure the new platform meets the needs of the studios, the Production Cloud Technology Lead will collaborate closely with product and technical stakeholders at the studios, Microsoft, and our creative vendors. This is a unique and exciting role that will have a direct impact on the future of filmmaking, both at Universal Pictures and in the industry!
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will oversee and develop the technical implementation architecture for the live action production capabilities of a cloud platform being built upon DreamWorks Animation's microservices-based production asset management platform. The Production Cloud Technology Lead will work closely with the DreamWorks Animation teams, external partner engineering teams and Universal Pictures stakeholders on the architecture and implementation of Universal Pictures-specific live action requirements. This role will also oversee and drive external use of the platform through education and development of technical implementations with external partners such as production software manufacturers and visual effects and post-production companies, as well as participate in industry consortiums to help guide any industry-specific work that is needed.
The Production Cloud Technology Lead is a deft verbal communicator with a passion for innovation. The candidate will be called on frequently to laisse and collaborate with internal stakeholders, industry leaders, and external vendors. You must be confident, approachable, attentive to detail, well organized, and proactive in identification and resolution of gaps. The ideal candidate must understand both the workflows and challenges of current live action production and understand cloud-native microservices, platform architecture and software development process.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required Skills:
5+ years of experience in the technology and media space with an emphasis on content workflows in live action production and post-production
Thorough understanding of current live action production and post-production workflows for feature or episodic content
Experience working in an agile/Scrum environment
Experience in designing microservices-based solutions
Deep level of understanding of scaling out PaaS/SaaS systems at a global scale
Familiarity with NoSQL databases and Pub/Sub messaging
Professional experience in two or more of the following programming languages (JavaScript/Node, Python, C#/.NET, Java, Go)
Strong working knowledge of common networking, infrastructure, and technical security principals
Deep knowledge of fundamental software architecture concepts and methodologies with a commitment to quality
Proven experience acting as a technical lead with ability to mentor and lead other software engineers
Practical experience with mission-critical, high volume systems
Ability to research and adapt new technologies quickly in a very dynamic work environment
Eligibility Requirements
Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
Must be 18 years or older
